Who Else Voted With Paper And Pencil? Where Did You Vote? |
|
I love marking an x next to my candidates, folding the big yellow paper ballot and slipping it into the cardboard IGA box. I live in Vermont. Safe to say we're as blue as can be.

Edited on Tue Nov-02-04 11:09 AM by Marianne
but a real good move this year. Looking ahead, the polls were located in the gymnasium of the school instead of the 200 year old Town Hall which was quaint because the original oak ballot box was used as well as the original benches, but it was small and parking was a disaster. This morning the school parking lot was full, but inside really organised and lines moving along fast.Brought the old oak ballot box with them though. Still use booths with curtains. We only had two agendas on the ballot--one to outlaw bear baiting and another re a tax cap so not too much to read.
On edit--small town midcoast Maine.

Though I did absentee this time, which is obviously pencil/paper. Our normal ballotting in this county is pencil/paper, with opitcal scanner. I love the feeling of filling in the little lines... I've been behind too many people at the self-checkout touchscreen machines at Home Depot to trust touch screen voting!

I just took my mom up to vote. She'll be 84 on November 7th. She is a life-long Republican and she voted a straight Dem ticket! I knew she was voting for Kerry before we went up, but I told her to vote for who she wanted to. We used paper ballot and filled in the ovals with black pencil.
In a short time, I'll go and vote with my husband.

I took my lucky pen but they said I had to use pencil. I hope slash or x is same. Now I want to go back and check them. oops. Kansas is so red anyhow, but I still was giddy to mark Kerry/edwards. It would be so cool if we shocked the world and went blue.
Our town only has about 200 people. I was 157 to vote. I think we have several others in the county for our polling place though.
On EDIT: By the way, everyone at the polling place was in a GREAT mood. I loudly announced how happy I was to be there and I had been waiting for MONTHS. They said, oh, you decided a long time ago, huh. I said, I decided in 2000. Lots of laughter. No visible scowls. I am so high today I can't imagine what will happen to my mood if it isn't a landslide for Kerry.

I voted straight party Dem, but I also filled in the arrow for Kerry/Edwards (I've been waiting so long to do that).
I stuck my ballot right into the optical scanning machine afterwards and saw the green light go on. What a rush! :)
