Are The Youth Turning Out??? |
|
After all of the GOTV aimed at the young people of this country by Michael Moore :) and MTV, I'm anxious to see if it's working.
Have we energized the youngn's? I'm getting ready to go vote so I will let you know if I see any young people at my precinct. Unfortunately, I left the young voter category quite a while ago...arrgghh..
Did you see any young people in line at your polling place???

A considerable percentage of the people in line looked like they were college age. And a lot of the people who were registering to vote (we have same-day registration) were young. I think they are coming out in droves.

11. my son is 26 and he just voted for Kerry.... |
|
He is a first time voter. He said there were a "few" other young voters in line but he got there early this morning. He had to wait an hour and 15 minutes to vote.

12. I live in Indiana, so it doesn't matter much... |
|
...but I got to the polls at 6:00am, right when they opened. (By the way, I'm 24). And as I was leaving, I'd say out of 20 or so people in line, nearly half looked to be in their 20's. Even though Indiana is out of play, at least it will help boost the popular vote. If anything, a large discrepancy in popular vs. electoral college may finally cause enough pressure to get rid of the damn thing.

13. 2 young woman turned away |
|
But there were at least 7 people in the room that looked to be in their 20's, including myself. The rest looked either looked in their 40's or 70's, like there is a generation gap.
I went between 8:30-9am

14. Lines are very long on my campus |
|
I got up and voted at 7, and not many people were there. But now the lines are incredibly long, and I'm at a primarily liberal campus in Ohio. Not a bad sign
