7. We also have a letter making the rounds telling people that |
|
they will be checked at the polls for outstanding warrants, tickets, etc. etc. It claims to be from the NAACP and was sent out in largely minority areas. :grr:
Same letter also sent out in one of the swing states. Can't remember for sure, but PA or OH.

Some of the counties are solidly Democratic. Others are solidly Republican. Some are solid Swing states. And a solid Republican county can be side-by-side with a solid Democratic county.
There have been letters distributed throughout the state (on what looks like official NAACP letterhead) to minority voters saying that they'd be arrested if they had so much as an outstanding parket ticket. It also said that they'd demand all types of proof of identity and a string of other lies. Remember-this is the state that RoveCo secured for * in 2000 against McCain in the primaries. The upstate (Greenville area) is Freeperland what with Bob Jones University, etc. and those religious right-wing wackos will do or say anything that RoveCo tells them to do. I live in a swing country, surrounded by Democratic counties. The whole state though, usually goes for the GOP.
And yes, voting Republican is a very racist thing here--all the rednecks and good ole boys thing that a vote for the GOP is a vote against the blacks. Sad, but true.
I haven't heard what the specific problems being reported are yet--maybe we'll learn more with the 12:00 news. I'll see if I can update later if I find out more.

6. Actually I'm not even from the USA, but my most recent home was in Dallas. |
|
And I'm currently going to school in Kentucky... which is almost as racist as SC, but much more racist than Texas.
