First Presidential election, reporting from CA |
|
Here's the scoop from Grand Terrace, CA (Population 11,000):
1. Daughter just voted in her first presidential election--she had to miss class at UC to stand in line (yes--a LINE out the door of the community center and down the sidewalk of this small town). I told her YES YES skip class Hon, don't wait 'til late tonight.
2. She tells me she helped two elderly people vote--both voted Kerry by the way.
3. She reported to me that she was THRILLED to see SO MANY people her age at the polling place.
I'm very proud of her GOTV efforts--she has been volunteering at UC to register first time voters. Our youth will decide our next President! Thank you young people for your efforts!!

Yes, we have touch screens here, but my daughter's name was not on the list and she had to use provisional ballot. (Interestingly, she said many had to use it--even the two elderly people who she was helping). Is that unusual? We recently moved, so I understand why maybe her name had not been added to the roster.
Let's hope those provisional ballots get counted!!
Also--yes, Grand Terrace is in the Inland Empire. Gorgeous weather today! (We recently had rain and high winds--so the lovely weather is a blessing).
