Update from Blanchard Oklahoma |
|
My wife and I went back to vote 2 hours after our first attempt. The first time we went, the line wrapped all the way around the little Baptist church. We went back home and had some breakfast and then returned at 9:30. The line was shorter but we still had to wait about 30 minutes.
While we were in line I was evaluating the people around me. I couldn't get a read on them. Then I heard a guy in front of me say, "How long can it take to vote straight party Democratic?" I was amazaed. The lady behind him said something about kids being drafted and if Bush won again, we may all be drafted. I told her I was glad there were some Democrats in line. She said there were alot of them. She then said something about not making the same mistake twice (it was pretty clear she had voted for Bush last time).
I heard the lady behind me say, "Great, those people will cancel out my vote." I had to bite my tongue to keep from saying, "Well, you might as well go home then."
Overall, it was a great experience. No problems lots of upbeat people and long lines.
I was voter 359 and my wife was 360. There are 2000 registered voters in our precinct and nearly 25% had already voted in the first 3 hours of voting. Amazing.
