When Kerry wins. The bodies will have to buried, but quick, and they will have less than 3 months.

Hurry up, Bush-y! Kerry's a former prosecutor, and he knows how to go after powerful criminals (see Iran-Contra, BCCI, Nixon).

Good luck getting everything shredded and hid. Good luck getting all the witnesses silenced. Good luck getting all of the guilty pardoned.

It's going to be a busy time for them.

1. but can he do a preemptive pardon?
Edited on Tue Nov-02-04 12:43 PM by bullimiami
is there anything to pardon before charges have even been filed?

on research....apparently he can....

"Pardons can take place before or after a criminal proceeding. President Gerald Ford, for example, pardoned Richard Nixon before Nixon was ever charged with, let alone convicted, of any crime. Such pardons, however, are rare, and general procedures dictate that at least five years of a sentence should be served before a pardon is considered. In the Constitutional Convention of 1787, this issue was brought up and debated quickly, with no restriction on when a pardon might be granted, suggested by James Wilson as a way of obtaining the testimony of accomplices."

3. Can he do a double jinx
Edited on Tue Nov-02-04 12:59 PM by NRK
by pardoning people for things they haven't realized they've done? Or don't want to come out? "...and anything else we might be charged with, forever and ever, invincible anything-proof double-double jinx!"

Let's say, for the sake of argument, that they knew about 9/11 and let it happen. They don't want that fact to come out. Can they still pardon themselves (others in the admin) for these things, or do they at least have to name the alleged wrongdoing they're granting pardons for?

9. This is what scares me
If * pardons a bunch of people, can they then go out and do whatever they want?

Just because pre-emptive pardons are rare, doesn't mean that this group will have any shame whatsover in using them.

Actually, maybe Kerry and others had better lie low about investigating this crew until Jan 21.

5. I LOVE this post
Sadly, not funny though.

The Kerry administration should go to court after the election, and seek an injunction against the Bush administration destroying documents, much like the SEC issues orders to investigated companies to retain all documents.

6. I think the writing on the wall was exactly why
Bush signed that latest corporate tax break very quietly last week. He wouldn't have needed to do that this close to the election if he thought he could get away with it openly next week.

7. They have backed up an industrial shredder to the WH loading dock..
It takes care of all the messy things ie: bodies, missing reports, bad interns, news leaks...a great catch all.

10. it'll be like East Germany right before the end
the shredders and furnaces were working overtime to destroy as much evidence as possible.

Too bad Kerry can't, tomorrow, put a lockdown on all documents...
