I kept a Republican from voting! |
|
No, not through voter supression! By having them watch F9/11 last night. Couldn't swing them all the way to the Kerry side, but they were so disgusted they decided to stay home instead of voting for Bush. Guess that's better than nothing. :toast:

I bought several copies of F9/11 and shared with some gopers and undecideds. One was converted and voted for Kerry today. The others were less impressed with Bush though they didn't say if they were changing their votes? Oh well...at least I got ONE.

20. I don't understand that kind of thinking either. |
|
I'd already encouraged everyone I knew to see the movie but then I convinced a Kerry-voting friend to show my dvd copy to her parents. So I wan't even there. The friend's mother is the one who decided to stay home after seeing the film. My friend tried hard to talk her mom into voting Kerry, but no deal. I'm not sure about the father. My friend said the film bothered him, but I'm not sure what he was planning to do before seeing the film or what he's planning to do now. I was told he's being kind of tight-lipped about it, which makes me think he's NOT going to vote for Bush, but I don't really know.

I consider every republican converted to a non-voter a victory. I am finding this is a common case would the idea is brought to their attention (because they are able to think like that for themselves and need a little suggestion).

I was talking to someone in Ohio as well who didn't like either Kerry or Bush, but was leaning towards Bush. So I just threw them a few facts about Bush, and they decided they just weren't going to vote at all.

His change wasn't as pronounced. He went from possibly voting for Nader, to definitely voting for Kerry after he watched F9/11. And he lives in MN.

17. Aye, better than nothing... |
|
...but it would've been better still if they voted.
I wish people would remember that the President isn't the only candidate on the ballots. There's lot of other races to vote on, as well as initiatives and so on in various locales.
