it is LEGAL to wear your KERRY gear into the polls in Virginia....

I just voted here in Virginia...and tried to file a complaint about both voter intimidation AND the guy was wearing a shirt that said "Kerry is a Traiter" on the back, and other garbage on the front....

the voting JUDGE ruled that the shirt was OK, it is LEGAL IN VIRGINIA....it is illegal to intimidate voters....

I also filed my complaint with the Virginia Democratic Party attorney...who also said it is LEGAL and FREE SPEECH to wear pro-bush or pro-KERRY gear (shirts, buttons, etc) into the polls EVERYWHERE in Virginia....so go for it....KERRY all the way....

4. Oh, just bring a jacket to cover up in case.... now get out and VOTE!
In my VA precinct, a chick wore a kerry edwards button with no hassles.

2. As I understood, INSIDE THE POLLING PLACE is off limits.
So you either have to take it off or cover it up. But hey, I don't know for Virginia. I am still trying to figure out your traffic laws.

3. Tell Me About It Re: Traffic Laws
First speeding ticket since I was 19, while out-of-state in Virginia, travelling the same speed or slower than the flow of traffic...

Hit for reckless driving; huge fine, license suspension.

6. I Had To Remove My Kerry Button
once I got inside the building.
Not worth protesting.
Besides, my vote said it all.
In and out in 30 minutes.

7. I just checked the VA election laws
And it doesn't seem to prevent it expressly. THe VA voters bill or rights simply says

10) When you are within 40 feet of a polling place, you have the right to vote or wait to vote without anyone electioneering or otherwise attempting to influence your vote.

it is LEGAL to wear anything you want into the polls in Virginia...it is considered a FREE SPEECH issue....

this includes partisan voting buttons, shirts, etc.

9. I saw people inside the polling place
Edited on Tue Nov-02-04 01:15 PM by LizW
with Bush stuff on. One woman had a black t-shirt with a huge white W on the back. No official said anything to her. Apparently it varies depending on the polling place.

This was in Alabama, btw.
