From am optimist re Dem chances in the House!
http://yellinreport.blogspot.com/2004/10/overall-predictions-for-election-2004.html

Original Balance: 227 Republicans, 205 Democrats, 1 Indy, 2 Vacant

Democrats Pick Up: CO-3, CO-6, CO-7, CT-2, CT-4, IL-8, IN-8, possibly LA-3 (depending on runoff), MN-6, MO-9, NE-1, NJ-7, NY-27, NC-11, OH-3, OH-14, PA-6, PA-8, VA-2, WA-8

+19 (or +20, depending on LA-3)

GOP Picks Up: possibly LA-7 (depending on runoff), TX-10, TX-11, TX-19, TX-24

+4 (or +5, depending on LA-7)

Overall: The story of the night, apart from the Democratic victory for Kerry, will be the House. Even in the best case GOP scenario, the Democrats would have 219 seats in the next Congress, and at worst for the GOP 221. The House is going to be extremely close, and if some of the close Democratic pickups I have projected go Republican, the GOP could squeak out control of the House.

2. Hunter S Thompson also said we would take back the house.
I don't beleive it personally, but he is actually known for his political insight.

3. Why not?
People voting for Kerry should be remembering how the Republicans played straight party politics with Clinton for 8 years. Why vote for Kerry and burden him with a bunch of spiteful Republicans? As much as we dislike Bush, Republicans were co-conspirators in his agenda and certainly have done nothing to check the War against the middle class.

Throw them all out and start anew.......

4. The Repug take over in 92 was as much a surprise
to the polls as this is.
Without B* and Rove to pull their strings the repugs and Dems should be able to actually get to work and pass some legislation.

9. Add OK-1 to the list
I'm not in that district, but the excitement from the grass roots campaign has been rippling across the state. We've got a shot at picking up a dem in the house AND the senate in OK this year.

11. Could Be
I actually believe the voter suppression Bull Shit the GOP is pulling this election could piss people off so much that they could loose the house, White House and Senate.

17. While I'd love both CT seats to go Democratic...
It will be tough. The past 3-4 days, every time I turn on local radio or TV, I hear a commercial slamming our 2nd district candidate Jim Sullivan... Heck, I even heard an NRA sponsored ad bashing him yesterday. The Republican Rob Simmons (former CIA) has run a nasty & dishonest campaign.

Farrell is trailing in the polls, but is right on the edge of the MOE. She needs a good turnout.
