From the field: INCREDIBLE turnout in Illinois!
I just got back from my shift as a pollwatcher, and as of 2:30 p.m. CST, 617 out of 822 voters in my precinct had cast votes, including almost 90% of those who cast votes in the Democratic primaries in 2004 and 2002. Those are OUR people, y'all!

I can almost taste it!

:D

3. Please tell me you're in Hastert's district
or LaHood, or Hyde, or Mark Kirk's.

I would LOVE to see Keyes pull the IL GOP even further down into oblivion.

5. Just drove by my polling precinct in Freeperville - only a handful of cars
It was packed pretty good this morning, but now there is no line at all. On the other hand, the precinct in the predominately African American area of my town - Line is ALL the way down the street!

7. I am SOOOOO glad I moved to Chicago from Nashville!
Illinois is "on lock" for Kerry and Obama (who WILL be the first black president). If I were in Nashville right now, hearing all the massed prayers for * from all the wracked and imbecilic fundies, going deaf......I shudder to think.

Chicago is the fucking coolest city in the US.

Champaign Co. gets bluer with every election; it's just that in Chicago, you're not used to seeing Repubs win--- ever! *grin*

12. Then you should introduce yourself to fellow DUer
"Davsand". She is VERY big in Champaign County Dem politics, and would be thrilled to have some help.

11. You're right about that!
I'm in Illinois too but downstate. I just got back from my shift(6-2) as a pollwatcher working with the Obama campaign. In the precinct I was working there were approximately 650 voters and there were about 150 Democrats on my list, which means it's a pretty Republican leaning precinct. When I left approximately 330 people had voted and I would say that 80 to 100 percent of the people on my list of Democrats had voted already. I hope these stories keep coming.

My brother worked the same shift in an African American precinct, and he was really encouraged by all the young voters coming in and the intensity with which they cast their ballots.
