You shouldn't post exit polls till AFTER
polls are all closed. It may discourage people from voting, if they have not already done so. Who knows what precincts are reporting etc....? I feel posting exit polls is irresponsible on anyone's part. We have waited 4 years, a few more hours will not kill us.

1. That was the rational Skinner had when he banned exit polls
but then reversed himself because it was unlikely that anyone who is active on this site would ever not go vote.

6. But it is a good assumption
I voted in the poll to not allow it. But the point is a good one I think. If your reading this site, the odds are real high that you have voted or will before the polls are closed in your area. Good call, Skinner.

9. they ask people after they vote
who they voted for(news agencies that is), then report the numbers they got. I don't trust news agencies at all, and I don't think we should help them by giving them any info, or post them where thousands could read and pass the info over to freepers who will then vote late, if they haven't already.

And they are prone to error. Do not take any of those numbers to the bank.

8. All About Exit Polls
Let's always remember THIS:

If a favorable exit poll convinces people to skip voting, that exit poll is 100% GUARANTEED to be wrong. Skipping voting due to exit polls is like not bothering to buy a lottery ticket because someone has told you you're going to win the lottery. It doesn't make sense. You CAN'T win if you don't PLAY.

Exit polls can be a self-negating prophecy. If they are a source of encouragement, great, but they are BY NO MEANS a substitute for voting.

If the lines are long, there's always a wall to lean against. We can't afford to lose ONE VOTE for ANY reason.

Kerry in a land... well, you know the rest. :)

(NOTE: I think it would be a good idea to paste this message into EVERY exit poll thread. If you like, feel free to cut and paste this entire text in case I miss any exit poll threads or leave the keyboard. Thanks.)
