Anybody worried the reported results won't match the exit polling? |
|
Diebold, anyone?
If this happens, it would be interesting to see if it occurred mostly in states/counties with touchscreen voting.
Related, I find it odd that all of a sudden, everybody trusts exit polls. I always have, for my part. They typically come very close to actual results (and did so in 2000, despite the perception they didn't)
It's what the new, paperless voting systems will report that I'm concerned about. I'm just glad there's exit polling again so that there's some check against what the counties/states report.

5. I am not worried. I think the slant will outweigh the deception. |
|
I didn't think I'd ever say that. In fact, I was a constantly vocal bitcher about how even paper trail electronic machines were a complete fucking scam (for reasons I am too annoyed with to get into here). But the sea of voters hammering those polls didn't go there to defend the status quo. They went there to save the Ship of State from running aground.

7. Diebold or whatever...it happened in Florida in 2000 |
|
The race was called for Gore based on exit polling because HE GOT MORE VOTES!!! They just weren't counted.

11. Exactly. I just hope there aren't any crucial states that are as close... |
|
... as FL was last time (a few hundred; official tally, that is).
The optimist in me thinks that's the only way they can even try to get away with any such shenanigans. If Kerry leads by at least a few thousand in the key states that he wins, I don't think there's much anybody can do without really raising suspicion.

10. Exit polls were right about FL in 2000, A majority of people thought they |
|
voted for Gore, but the votes weren't counted that way.

I don't trust exit polling. Too many variables such as people voting after they get off work etc.
I am sitting tight and waiting.

will come in late and will likely favor bushco but hopefully, Kerry's lead will be large enough to absorb those late shifts.

20. You mean just like in 2000 when more people said they had voted Gore? |
|
And they actually had voted for Gore but thousands of Gore ballots were trashed?

23. Another possible reason for discrepancy.... |
|
Exit polls do not include absentee, mail in and early voters.
Also "early" exit poll numbers usually are quite fluid. When the polls close, we'll have a much clearer picture.
That doesn't mean to not be on the lookout just remain calm.

|
not that I really did before....but the way the other polls have been so whacked as of late, I need to see the results not the polls.
