First polls (KY, IN) close in 35 minutes!
Edited on Tue Nov-02-04 05:26 PM by stevietheman
It's getting close, folks!

Perhaps the Mongiardo/Bunning Senate results in KY and the IN governor race will give us some early clues.

Note: Both races were close in last minute polls.

1. I'm really interested in the Mongiardo/Bunning result
It seems like Bunning has gone off the deep end. This would be a GREAT pickup for us.

2. I want to be first to apologize for Indiana.
Indiana will go Bush...the reason is simple...GUNS, GODS and GAYS..it is sad but true.

Bush is going to get those two states and have an early lead btu of course it will not last.

9. Don't look for Kentucky to be a bellwether state
Edited on Tue Nov-02-04 05:34 PM by Ky For Kerry
We are a deep red unfortunately. Just stating the obvious so no ones gets their panties in a wad when the returns start. Certainly hope I'm in for a big surprise...but the repug has a death grip on the entire state and it is killing us.

Dr. Dan has a good chance of winning but the RNC has poured vast sums of money in TV ads, etc. in the last week or so. They are desperate to maintain control of the Senate and they don't care if there is a doddering old fool who doesn't know where he is half the time is occupying one of the seats. (The repugs propped up Thurmond for so long his body began smelling before they finally rolled his senile ol' ass out the door. Same way with Bunning - in fact, I think the RNC much prefers their candidates to be senile - the better to control the sheep.

That said - GO KERRY! GO MONGARIDO! GO KENTUCKY!

IN has a few counties on Central time
So while most of the state will be done at 6pm Eastern - a few counties won't be.

4. Isn't IN all on standard time now? n/t
I thought those few counties just stayed standard during the daylight savings time period.

6. Nope
Not in Northwest Indiana. So many of us commute to Chicago, that we go on DST with them.

"11 counties - 6 near Chicago, Illinois  in the northwest (Gibson, Jasper, Lake, LaPorte, Newton, Porter, Starke) and 5 near Evansville, Indiana (Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh, Warrick) in the southwest of the state occupy the Central Time Zone and do adopt Daylight-Saving Time."

12. Evansville and surrounding counties stay C. D. T.
Why? I have no clue, but growing up in Southeastern Illinois, I was glad they were!
