For Immediate Release
In another sign that momentum is building behind John Kerry, Congresswoman Donna M. Christensen, Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus Health Braintrust and U.S. Virgin Islands Delegate to Congress, has endorsed Kerry in his bid for the Democratic nomination for President of the United States.
“Senator Kerry’s sensitivity to the issues of healthcare for all Americans, but most importantly the healthcare of minorities and those from rural areas and his understanding of the global connectivity of it all forms the cornerstone of my support,” said Christensen, who is also a family physician. “I am pleased that his campaign has now begun to catch up with the promise his candidacy brings to all Americans for a better life and a better country,” the Congresswoman said.
Christensen called John Kerry “the most solid candidate.” She noted that his record and experience gives the party the best chance of beating President Bush. “He has the ability required to come into office and immediately begin to repair the damage done in these three and a half years and put the country back on the right track,” she said.
“John Kerry’s military history gives him a clear understanding of what war is about and more importantly, a sound sense of the importance of peace and alliances that stretch across the globe,” Christensen continued. “I am also impressed with his unwavering support and advocacy for small business, and his valiant efforts to protect and preserve the environment. His interests mirror mine more than that of any other candidate,” she said.
“I plan to do my part to make sure that his campaign continues to grow and gain momentum on the way to the nomination,” Christensen concluded.
Christensen joins two U.S. Senators and 23 other Members of Congress who are supporting John Kerry.
