"Skewed exit polls?" Are we about to be DIEBOLDED?!?!?!??!?!!?!?
Okay y'all, I'm starting to get suspicious.

Kerry is CLEARLY kicking chimp butt.

But now we hear this:

1. Various reports that the exit polls are somehow "skewed" and are being "rechecked" (Brokaw - NBC)

2. White House source telling National Review that Bush "has won" Ohio and Florida.

3. Ohio a guaranteed win for Bush from Diebold Pres.

4. Both Ohio & Florida have electronic voting in large numbers.

ARE WE ABOUT TO BE DIEBOLDED?

Watch for results to SUDDENLY change.

I hope it doesn't happen but remember this is what we feared.

2. No, I think it's simply that the exit polls show a clear winner
and it is Kerry. Let's hang on.

wouldn't state a known lie to help Bush would it? Surely not. By the way, Kerry is choosing Gephart for VP.

9. Maybe you should repost this in voting problems
I want to have a HUGE evidence trail should BushCo decide to really fuck with the results. Of course we KNOW they're going to fuck with the results, but if they fuck with them to the point that they "overcome" what is clearly a Kerry landslide victory, they are going to have riots on their hands. And I, for one, want as much evidence as possible. I am not giving up this time. In the name of President Gore, President Kerry will NOT have his term stolen on my watch.

11. Agree with previous post
It's WH spin to keep their voters going to the polls. Kind of like a QB motivating his players when down by 2 TDs with 2 minutes to go.

Except that it's more like 4 TDs.

All that 1) says is that Brokaw doesn't want to believe his eyes. As for 2)--"a White House source?" well, THAT'S trustworthy, and certainly unbiased. :eyes: who? what? huh?

18. I think Brokaw meant that the exit polls are "slanted"...
i.e., clearly pointing in one direction. Not "skewed," as in inaccurate. Poor choice of words on his part.

21. but that's the 2nd place I've heard that same language....
and Brokow, a GE employee, obviously got it from the White House.

http://rawstory.com/exclusives/byrne/white_house_predicts_win_1102.htm

"Believing an unverified claim on the conservative Drudge Report, that the early exit polls were skewed in favor of women voters (who prefer Kerry by-and-large), the White House source told the Review they believe there was "skewing" of early exit polls."

26. Wouldn't it be ironic
If Bush "won" FL and OH, and then loses it by losing in places like Virginia and Arkansas? Remember that Bush "won" both OH and FL in 2000, and still only barely won enough electoral votes.

29. The White House may be trying to protect down-ticket races...
By making FL and OH seem to be leaning GOP, they may be trying to prevent GOP voters in other states from getting discouraged and not voting, which would put their House and Senate races at risk.

38. man, we REALLY need to change this black box problem
by the next election. Gives me knots in my stomach.

One poster here a few minutes ago said he bubbled in his votes on some kind of scan sheet, fed it into a machine, and watched the vote tally go up by one. Computer-read, with a paper record. What's so hard about it? Let's push for this legislation by 2006!!! No more of this scary garbage.
