Clark, Kerry Camps Squabble Over Campaign Brochure
The Kerry campaign denied the brochure amounted to negative tactics. "Calling a duck a duck is not negative," said Mark Kornblau, Kerry's New Hampshire press secretary.

The brochure, which also questioned former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean's fitness for the White House, used newspaper clippings to point to Clark's past votes for Republicans Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan and his former status as a lobbyist. Clark's staff said he terminated his lobbyist registration on Sept. 17 last year.

The squabble surfaced as both Clark, 59, and Kerry, 60, advanced on Dean's front-runner position in New Hampshire. The latest American Research Group tracking poll showed Dean out in front with 28 percent. Clark was at No. 2 with 22 percent and Kerry at No. 3 with 18 percent -- within the poll's four-percentage-point margin of error.

Clark has faced recent criticism from his Democratic rivals and Republicans over his voting record and perceived flip-flops on the war in Iraq, which he opposes. On Friday, he responded by opening his own personal records and challenging his fellow Democratic hopefuls to follow suit.

1. Jeeze, fellas, don't you ever catch on?
Negative ads didn't work for Kerry and Gephardt in Iowa and they won't work in New Hampshire either.

Besides, its going over territory the Dean guys hammered to death already. Clark is a Republican, etc., etc., etc.

I do note, however, that there are supposedly many fewer Kerry folks on DU than Dean or Clark supporters, so maybe they just haven't been paying attention.

And Kerry folks, please don't print flyers ignoring Dennis's contributions to this campaign. His folks get real touchy about that stuff.
