Apx 170,000 Ohio Provisional Ballots Are Waiting to be Counted |
|
(according to CBS) and Kerry is down by 126000 votes.
If Kerry takes the first 126,000 provisional ballots, he'll break even. He'll then have to take 1/2 of the remaining votes to stay even
Thats a total of (apx.) 148,000 votes to stay even.
Thats 87% of the provisionals to tie, 88% to win. Can we do it?
Are ALL of those ballots going to be from Republican challenges?
Were there any Dem challenges?
Will the 6th Circuit Court's ruling on behalf of Ohio Republicans play a big role?

but its just too much to ask that he will take almost 90% of the provisional vote, and even if he does, you arent taking out the 10% that historically has been found to be invalid.
Heck if I were Kerry, I would be trying to make the argument that Florida still has a chance, but Ohio? It just isnt going to happen.

I know one thing: our side certainly wasn't challenging voters en masse. It was 99.99% a GOP tactic.
So I say count the votes. This actually cheers me up a bit.
Question.. for provisional ballots, is that a final number..?
Another question.. is there another brand of ballot called the 'alternative ballot,' and if so, what is it?

I witnessed with my own eyes voters in Hamilton County being directed to the Board of Elections to cast their Provisional Ballots, yet the SoS website shows no number for Hamilton County.
Many other counties have no number. NO provisional ballots handed out in Cuyahoga County (Cleveland), the most populated area of Ohio? I don't think so.
9,000+ provisional ballots in Montgomery County (Dayton)?!?? Dear God, the GOP Good Squad must have really been pressing the African American community hard up there.
This is so completely disgusting.

Even if we assume that all the blank counties are yet to be filled in, it would take some very big numbers to get this total where we would need it to have a reasonable chance.

10. Ohio SoS Blackwell said Ohio was trending toward 175,000... |
|
... provisional ballots: http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/news/special_packages/election2004/10083366.htmExcerpt: Though NBC and Fox News projected Bush as the winner in Ohio, other news organizations held off, in part because officials said there were at least 125,000 "provisional ballots" that could yet be counted. Kerry refused to concede the state.
"There are more than 250,000 remaining votes to be counted," campaign manager Mary Beth Cahill said in a written statement. "We believe when they are, John Kerry will win Ohio."
Bush's campaign did not comment, but earlier, the president called reporters to the family quarters of the White House, where the Bushes and Vice President Dick Cheney were watching returns come in. "I believe I will win," Bush said.
Provisional ballots are backup ballots cast by voters whose names don't appear on the registration lists at their polling places - as provided for in the federal election reforms enacted after the 2000 Florida debacle. They are set aside to be verified and cannot be counted for 11 days. Ohio's secretary of state, Ken Blackwell, said the state was trending toward 175,000 provisional ballots.

there's somewhere between 76,000 and 250,000. It sounds to me like everyone is just pulling numbers out their ass.
