Is Gephardts voting record in the house this bad?
I was listening to the Mike Malloy show last night and he said Gephardt's missed the vote 90% of the time and is being sued (by some group...sorry didnt catch the details or link)to return some of his salary based on some law that hasnt been inforced for years. If he isnt doing his job already, why would we elect him for a better job? Also he has already proved he will roll over and play dead if Bush tickles his tummy just right. Thats why the Repubs keep saying they want him as nominee ....because they know they can beat him. Don't buy into it! Mr. Resolution-votin Kerry or nicey-face Edwards cant take it to him either!
LET HOWARD DEAN GET IN BUSH'S face! He CAN beat him!
Does anyone have any better info on this? I was suprised his record would be that bad!

1. speaking of Republicans...
they're making this same charge against Gephardt. The question is, why is Malloy broadcasting Ed Gillespie's talking points?

The republicans LOVE the phony "missed votes" issue. They love it because it's phony.

7. what's false is the importance of the "issue"
That's the phony part, the implication that it says something significant.

The GOP even has a web page devoted to it. If that's not proof of the phoniness of an issue, I don't know what is.

2. Yes, for the past year.
Due to his involvement with his bid for the Dem nomination. Kerry is the 2nd worst. I think Kucinich has the best record.

3. I'm sure Howard Dean can beat Bush...
You seem to forget that Dean avoided the draft and was born into a wealthy family. Joe Sixpack doesnt like people like Dean.

4. Thats an old stereotype

We aren't all bushite zombies waving rebel flags down here anymore.I come from a Joe sixpack sorta background from Texas, and I think he's the best equipped most inspiring leader I've seen on the national stage in Democratic politics in many years. I feel like he is blunt because he is honest and some people arent use to that from our leaders. The media is calling it 'gaffes' but its just Howard Dean being himself and using straight talk. We are used to their canned soundbites and pandering and feeding us pablum. They will get accustomed to the way he speaks and come to appreciate the changes it brings to the benefit of the country the more they get to know him.

edit: Inheriting a little wealth is not unnecessarily a bad thing...I look at WHAT one DOES with their fortune and how they live and treat others. Dr, Dean is a great example!

That didn't stop them from electing Bush. At least Dean didn't go AWOL.

The Democrats need to drill this point home.

Oldest contender must win caucus to keep hopes alive

DES MOINES, Iowa – With only one day to go before Iowa officially launches the 2004 presidential campaign, time may be running out for Rep. Richard Gephardt, the one-time Democratic Party golden boy who now must hope his close ties to labor and years of campaigning can boost him to victory.

Most Iowans had never heard of Howard Dean before he burst onto their political scene less than a year ago, and few knew much about Sens. John Kerry or John Edwards before they made this a tight race just weeks ago.

But with the latest polls showing a too-close-to-call, four-man contest as Democrats prepare to go to their caucuses tomorrow night, Gephardt is the one presidential contender whom Iowans have seen – and seen and seen and seen.
