Washington Journal- I feel sick. |
|
I am not impressed with whoever this radio guy is that's on the show right now. Nevermind his ridiculing Dennis, I'm used to that. This creep is ridiculing and entire town full of voters! He's laughing, insulting and actually suggesting the people of Fairfield Iowa are greedy new-age freaks!
Where the HELL did all this stereotyping and outright bigotry come from in this country? The jerk even had the gall to say "You don't expect it (the beliefs in Fairfield) in America's Heartland, you expect it somewhere in California."- So now he's insulted not only tis little town in Iowa but the entire STATE of California, and this is what we call journalism and accurate reporting?!

1. He is making me sick also |
|
On and on with the "Dean is angry" chant. Just a reciting of the RNC talking points about each candidate. The sickening part is that he is trying oh so hard to sound fair and reasonable.

He must be terrified to learn that the "Heartland" is far more like liberal California than he realized, and that it appears to be full of people who take their politics seriously. Bad news for * as time goes on!

7. And Fairfield isn't the only place! |

There's Newton County AR. There is even a large population of liberals in Springfield MO, home of John Ashcroft!

making fun of meditating, which is exactly what this country needs more of IMO. it's this superficial "culture" that's brought us to this brink of disaster.

about the commentator or the program you're referring to, but I can tell you where it comes from...
It comes from a media controlled by the repub conservative "holier than EVERYONE else" wing. You know...the ones who slobber over that born again wonder named Bush.

6. Is this the guy dissing meditation? |

I'm not a follower of the Mararishi, but I am a mystic, and do regular spiritual practices. Like most mystics, I've had my share of experiences which are beyond the ordinary, but I've learned not to speak of them because people like this always either explain it away (usually asking what drugs I was on-I've never taken drugs, btw) or make fun of me.
If I lived near Fairfield, I'd note all the sponsors of his show, especially local ones. I'd write or call them and complain about his remarks. Economic pressure is the only thing people like this understand.

11. Yep, he made fun of everything |

about Fairfield residents, meditation, the fact that they've taken to printing their own currency, etc.
The thing that got me the most was he kept repeating "They're in their own zip code!" and snickering.

Washington Journal and listen to most of the callers and realize these are the "morans" that actually go into a booth and pull levers every election. It's scary actually.

I was watching the Howard Stern movie the other night (it was a slow TV night, so sue me), and one of the things that led to Stern's success was that not only would his faithful listen to him, nonstop, for hours, but the people who hated him would listen to him for hours as well.
The reason given: Both sides wanted to see what he said next.
While hate radio exists to provide marching orders and moral justifications for the outrages and hypocrisy of the right wing to the faithful, it is also any number of liberals' guilty little vice. We listen to "hear what the opposition is up to", or "to try to determine how to counter the latest lies and spin of the right" or, more likely, to re-fill our reservoirs of righteous indignation, but the bottom line is that they wouldn't talk like that if it didn't pay well.
The only power we have over this is our dollar and listenership vote. There are campaigns to boycott advertisers to these shows. This is the best approach. Outraged letters and protests only provide them with free publicity and prove that they are doing their jobs.
Vote well.
