I was told this by a very reliable source when he was in Texas last week. That is all I can say.

unfortunately, we have the Democratic party to thank for that....like when he was being called a Republican throughout the primaries. That could have served us well during the General Election....but of course, Dems couldn't see through the cellophane of pure party politics. Blame Terry McAwful and Ted Kennedy. They wanted a "pure" Democrat to run. They got what they wanted, at least. We lost a gift in Wes Clark, the sage.

15. Are we sure of this. Or is this Clinton/Edwards trying to get rid of |
|
competition? Based on all the dirty tricks played by various Democrats in the primaries, I wouldn't put it past them.

21. If Clark ( my candidate) wants out |
|
I say more power to him. He took a beating ( smear campaign ) during the primaries but fought with us tooth and nail for the Dem party. He spent most of his life serving our country and deserves a chance to help his family and start the charitable organizations he always dreamed of. I wouldn't count Wes out of a future Dem. president's cabinet.

Clark was initially my guy in 2004. He was a bit green on the campaign thing, but after all the time he put in working for Dem candidates this fall he is seasoned and ready for the big time.

But he is fascinating and articulate...which is why he was pulling 30K per speaking engagements before he ever ran for any office. It is why he was on CNN for hours and hours during the Iraq War.....talking and talking. Didn't seem to bore anyone, and in fact, that's why he got drafted.....CNN ratings went through the roof everytime he was on.
Maybe you just have "bad" taste.

16. If you think that's why he got toppled in the primaries, you weren't |

watching very closely. The Republicans and Democrats united to get rid of Clark.

a gift handed to them...cause they couldn't see through the cellophane put in front of their face by the DNC. That's why Democrats don't win elections anymore. Critical thinking seems to have gone out of style with many in the party.

Who wants a leader who, like, knows shit and stuff? Like, about, um, policy and economics and diplomacy and some junk like that?
I mean, like, my president has to, like ENTERTAIN me. That's of primary importance.

19. That stupid Republican meme (lie) again. I love how the Democrats |
|
keep falling hook, line and sinker for Republican lies. You'd think they'd get a clue and start to think for themselves. Well at least Cuomo sees through the Republican lies and spin. Too bad there isn't more Democrats like him.

We should all be begging Wes Clark to once again serve his country, to organize the opposition to the criminal in the White House, to serve = Clark '08. Clark was always the one who stood up to W, even before Iraq. Clark has an all-American background--middle American, up from poverty, war hero, moral values,4-star General, international leader, Democrat. Clark chews up Repugs for dessert.

22. I would not argue with a Clark/Warner ticket |
|
Warner's a successful Dem Southern governor. Clark is a real war hero Southerner with vast experience that goes to the very heart of what * seems to appeal to.
Some say he wasn't good in the debates. Maybe not at first. But I also noticed often in the debates the moderators never gave him any time (yeah, maybe he could have been a bit more assertive). As but one example ... the debate moderated by Peter Jennings. He was too busy dissing the Clark or asking him stupid questions to recognize he actually had a mind.
Witness Clark's stint on CNN as an analyist. He was a huge draw for them - which is why the trotted him out so damned often. Most important in my mind, however, is that he comes off as an "everyman". I really think people could relate both to and with him. Until his retirement, he was at most upper middle class. Sure he had a high level job, but generals just don't make all **that** much. Fact is, I earn more than he did at his highest pay grade, and I can assure you I am not rich.
But best of all, he has real ideas and says them reasonably well, but has no voting record on which he can be attacked.
Warner has all the advantages any successful governor does. He is successful as a Dem in a red state. That alone says a lot.
Add these two together and I see it as a team with a real chance. Do they fit with the party insiders? Who cares? Maybe they do and maybe they don't. The real question is ... can they win in today's political climate.
Having said all of this - and truly believing it - I am a man conflicted. There's anothert part of me that could just as easily embrace the notion of running an in-your-face unapologetic liberal lefty ticket ..... like Hillary Clinton and (Baltimore mayor) Martin O'Malley.

24. I *really* like Mark Warner, Governor of Virginia |
|
When we lived in No. Virginia, I'd always listen to him on "Ask the Governor" on WTOP. He was terrific, and a Democrat in a VERY Repub state.
He's an asset.

have clark. dont you see. hes from the south. military. they cant take values from him dedicating his life to service, cant make him out to be unamerican while they wrap themselves in the flag cause he is a freaking general. now he has experience, no more big gaffes, this is his time. clark/warner is a winner especially after 8 years of bush.
