Why can't we contest Florida? |
|
There are 1.6 million votes still uncounted. What was Bush's margin of victory? A lot of these are Dem voters, not military. The Dems in Florida were told to vote absentee and now their votes ahven't been counted.

3. What happens if they discover we win Florida |
|
Do they cover it up like the 2000 recounts?

4. if those votes end up putting Kerry in a lead (unlikely) he will retract |
|
the concession.
the votes are still going to be counted. but from the numbers they have it's unlikely they will gain enough to win or even make it close enough to have a recount.

6. Then Kerry is the president |
|
His concession speech is not legally binding. But what is the chance that he will make up 330K votes even if these votes you talk of aren't counted. And help me out, what makes you think they aren't?Most absentees are counted when the other votes are counted. Only ones that should be still outstanding are the ones that were mailed in the last few days before the election.

5. Bait and switch from 2000 |

People were so afraid this time to vote on machines that millions opted to vote absentee in the hopes that a physical record of their vote would be counted whereas a phantom one, or possibley contestable one (remember chads?) would not. Now nothing tangible is being counted as Fox News called it too early and Bush declared himself the winner.
THe provisional ballot option has proven itself to be a joke It's patently obvious they never intended to count these votes, just provide a false option to newly registered people to prevent them from voting manually. Why on earth did we need "challengers" during this election when we have trained poll workers? Now possibly millions of provisional ballots -- most likely heavily Dem since I haven't heard of Dem challengers -- will not be counted.
Some estimate that upward of 6 million votes are going to be ignored but even here on DU we have people saying, "it's no use. The votes aren't there. Kerry did the right thing."

They should be counted regardless because its the right thing to do. They probably won't mean a Kerry win but its not right to not count someone's vote
