what more does it take to convince people that this guy is evil? an unnecessary war, corporate corruption, cronyism, enron, abu gahraib, etc, etc, etc--we all know the list

but none of this matters to the average redneck dipshit around here (i'm in wv). "sire he may draft my kid and help ship my job overseas, but he hated fags as much as i do, so he's got my vote! yee-haaw!!!!!!!!"

there was a time where i thought, that despite our flaws, we as a people were noble and decent and when pressed would always try to do the right thing. as i look out at this nation of self-centered, greedy, fear-driven and fear-moger, racist, homophobic, sexist redneck pieces of shit, i've lost all faith in humanity

i never thought i'd say this, but i fucking give up. i just don't care anymore. people deserve the government they chose. i've fought and worked since i got into politics back in 92 when i was in 10th grade and things have just continuously gotten worse-clinton sold us out, the congress went GOP, NAFTA, GATT, the 2000 theft, september 11th, democrats surrendering to bush, the war resolution, the 2002 defeats WELLSTONE DEAD, the iraq war

then just as i had almost given up, the people started to rise up (at least in miy mind). i had never before seen anything like this. folks here at the college being turned on to progressive politics, F911 becoming a box office hit, moveon.org taking off, vote for change,we pored everything wee had into the effort to take bush down - it kept getting bigger and bigger until

i realized it meant nothing. it's not enough. we're outnumbered by these people. hate and fear has become the american way. as mel brooks said in space balls, "i'm surrounded by assholes!"

i just don't have it in me anymore. i've put 12 years of my life so far into this and nothing has changed. maybe it's elf-centered, but i just don't think it's healthy to keep trying only to get emotionally destroyed in every election cycle

so i'm taking a break for a long while. getting back into art. best of luck to you all. god knows we're all going to need it
