70 million Americans don't believe in evolution...
said Sy Hersh when asked how Bush could still be popular, given the lack of WMD, bungled Iraq war and enormous deficits.

Hersh also talked about the how Americans are seen in the world. The typical refrain had been "We like the American people, it's Bush we don't like". That's certainly how I would characterize my feelings. But Hersh warned: if, after seeing how he governed during his first term, Bush is given another 4 years in office, then that goodwill could disappear, and the average American citizen will be complicit in Bush's policies and actions.

Hugz to my brothers and sisters here at DU, and if you're ever in Toronto, let me know. But sadly, from today, my view of Americans has changed.

:(

Sid

13. Don't do it, big guy
Can you imagine what this country would do without Dems to moderate what the right wing military industrial complex does? This is bigger than our individual feelings. We need to band together again and stop the slaughter of innocents.

Please stay and fight with us.

5. You're right, of course...
but, apart from the "Morans with mullets", it's sometimes hard to immediately figure out who's on which team :)

8. One big lie after another. That's exactly it.
How can you reason with someone who doesn't believe in unanymous scientific evidence...or simple observation for that matter.

11. So, you come from San Francisky; an you drove, or did you gonna flew?
Yes, Sid: we're bad. As a people, it can't be hidden, and we all have that taint. We have no compunction about exploiting the rest of the world, invading and killing for financial gain, subjugating anyone we damn well please and imposing religion on others. The vote was decided by hatred against homosexuals, and that's a damning statement for us as a people.

The lunacy of superstitious delusion that's always been a problem with this country has hit a point now where it will be the driving force for quite some time. It will probably only get worse.

Sorry. I'd like to apologize for my ignorant bullying countrymen, but I fully understand if you don't quite accept it.

We're the bad guys now, and that's just going to cause everyone a lot of trouble.

15. The literal version of creation that...
is in the book of the Ancient Hebrews.

Do millions believe that?

14. And another sad statistic
is that over 50% of these bible thumpers shoving their religion into our government are too illiterate to read or have never read the bible.

16. As of today, I'm not sure that I do either. We just can't seem to progress
as a society of people for very long and it seemed prior to this election that we'd moved backwards by decades. I'm in one of the southern red states and it's getting to be too much for me as I get older. I don't want my kids fighting the same fights that I did only to be fighting them again many years down the road. C'est la vie...I'm looking for a way out.
