For all of the right's complaining about welfare, consider that Alaska is building a multi-million dollar bridge in Alaska for the city of Ketchikan. Its being built just so the people of Ketchikan will not have to take a ferry across the Tongass Narrows to their airport.

Ketchikan has a population of 14,000 people. This is conservative, Senator Ted Stevens at his best.

The bridge will be 20 feet short of the Golden Gate Bridge! Supporters claim the it is comparable to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and will be economic development! Hell, they won't even be able to plow the snow of this thing.

2. we need to replace the word "boondoggle"

with something that doesn't sound so "quaint" and has an eviler connotation than 'pork' (which has a "same ol' same ol' quality)
