MUST READ about the coup of the theocrats. Democracy has lost.
Posted by a diarist, galiel, at Daily Kos. The best--and most frightening--post-election piece I've read.

Still Missing the Big Picture About This Election

Wed Nov 3rd, 2004 at 06:23:59 PST

This is not about Republicans or Democrats.
This is not about the war.
This is not about the economy.
This is not even about counting the votes.

This is the final step in the 20-year creeping coup by the theocrats, the Dominionists.

In the House and the Senate, the theocrats made dramatic advances, far beyond the number of seats that switched parties. On the GOP side, they have replaced moderates with zealots, and have significantly strengthened the support for the main theocrat bills that will be reintroduced in the new Congress.
<snip>

Make no mistake, this election was the keystone of the theocrat coup. All that is left now is carrying out the agenda and changing the laws of this nation irrevocably to gut the Bill of Rights and establish a Dominionist government in America.

IN the coming days, Reinquist and others will resign, including half of the exhausted courageous liberals and moderates who held the line longer than anyone expected, and Bush will appoint a solid theocrat majority to the Supreme Court, and the Dems will not be able to stop it, fillibuster or not. The Dominionists have enough stealth candidates to push through like they pushed through Thomas, and the public pressure will be irressistible. In the next four years, theocrats will fill life-time appointments in the judiciary all over the nation, and essentially open the gates for the coming theocratic legislative agenda.

The administration will complete the overhaul of the science advisory committees and the Dept of Health and Human Services, laying the ground work for the overturning of Roe v. Wade and ending all biological research deemed objectionable to the theocrats.
<snip>

I warned before the election that they were one victory away, and that they would win no matter what the actual vote was, because they are zealots who would do anything to win, including fraud on a massive scale that folks here just don't want to even concieve, because they have never looked radical religious extremism in the face the way I have, having lived in Israel for 13 years in the past.

The theocrats will not be stopped, because Americans refuse to believe that it could happen here.

It is just like Germany in the 20's---not like McCarthyism in the 50's. This is far worse, but denial is rampant, because we just don't want to believe that our America could fall to Christian Taliban.

2. I was talking to a pretty smart liberal friend about this today
and he thought it was just some kind of Science Fiction. He was completely unable to believe that anything like that would even be attempted, much less pulled off. The guy's a practicing Catholic, and is pretty much blinded to any of the evil of religious belief and its political uses, and I was demoralized by the conversation.

It may well be unstoppable.

7. Don't be demoralized by the conversation
be energized. Why? Because people fight cognitive dissonance (that reality or something new learned doesn't fit with one's current thinking) as a primordial defense mechanism. You have planted the seed (the idea that these folks are extremists). It is hard for folks not paying very close attention to see what is going on, in part because to do so would entail acknowledging dark motives - and folks just don't like to accept that people in our own government act/think that way. So the job in the coming time is the following -collect and share evidence. I will give examples from the past two years:

There is an out break of madcow and the dept of agriculture fights tooth and nail to change nothing. Several countries who mandate a level of testing of meat that exceeds our own start boycotting (and we try to pressure them out of it - Japan being the prime example). Bad right - care more about the meat packagers... well some could buy into the a few hurt people are out trumped by protecting the jobs in the industry of everyone else (which is how the actions of the bush DOA are explained). But a month or two later a few small producers want to undergo testing of all animals (the bar demanded by Japan) - as a marketing method. They are prevented from doing so by the dept of agriculture. What the F? why would smaller companies be prevented from doing this? Because big industry doesn't want to compete nor do they want consumers asking why if that (small, independent) producer can do such inspections why can't these other producers do the same?

My point is there are thousands of such news stories - But they are small so people don't read them or hear about them. Our job is to force the stories down these folks throats when they happen. Use the stories which come out in the mainstream press (they do come out - just very hidden). Day after day show stories that demonstrate how this administration puts business interests first in ways that put US citizens health and wellbeing at risk. Force them through the discognacance.

8. and they have no jobs
and they lose their house (or it loses all its worth)

and their taxes skyrocket to pay for the bushgang wars and theft

I hope they get exactly what they voted for and realize just before they draw their last miserable fucking breath of life that they've been conned and there ain't no pie in the sky when you die.

A friend of mine with close ties to Federal law enforcement told me to shut up. Stop posting. Don't say anything. He said he was telling me this for my own good. He believes that it is all over, the Bill of Rights is gone, the election was fraudulent, and that we are now officially a fascist police state.

He's a conservative republican.

9. This was the battle before Tuesday...
Do you understand that these people can kill anyone anytime? Do you understand that any action they take is justified and will be rewarded by their god?

There are no worse humans than these.

Do you know the dominionists in your life?

10. Frightening and so true
I can't believe what my country has done to itself. They really have no idea.

On the one hand, I still am thinking that there is something with the voting machines. I can't help it. I just can't believe what has happened. And I can't believe they're getting away with it so easily.

On the other hand, a part of me wants to throw up my hands and say "Fine. You can have it."

I probably have 20-30 years left barring a fatal accident or illness. I am so glad I'm not in my 20's. I don't think I could take it.

The Dominionists are the equivalent of the Taliban...and they said we're just left-wing liberal loons. I hope they enjoy their theocracy. :cry :cry :cry

And all true. The neo-con/religious right alliance is destroying the America my father fought for in WW2.

We must fight back.
We will fight back.

Join me please - send me a private message, and I will explain exactly what is going on this very moment.

a fight for Democracy itself. Please read my post from earlier today
The subject line is Starting The Fight Against Fascism In America.
IMO, we are at a point more like 1933 Germany...it can happen again!
