Maybe I'm just reaching for a positive interpretation where there is none to be had, but I think that the situation is liberating, in a way, though decidedly undesirable. We lost the presidency, which still physically hurts me to type, and we lost in the House and Senate even more deeply than we already had. All of this, despite running against an administration fraught with widely-acknowledged failures and scandals.
Seriously, how can we make things much worse than they are now?
They've got all of the power, and all of the responsibility for what happens. There is no better time than now to kick them right in the fucking teeth, and stick it to every single entity that has perpetuated this mess.
This must be accomplished on the political stage, by men and women who won't appease just to be bipartisan or make abortive attempts to be more Republican than the opposition. But it would also yield great punitive satisfaction to do this on the individual level. As an example, it is easy to search on the internet for which specific areas put this bastard back in office, and to find his major corporate and private contributors. We could organize a list of these for a DU/progressive boycott, or some other form of action against them. Refusing to participate in the American economy at all as previously suggested is extremely difficult, but doing so selectively may send a very specific message, negatively reinforcing everyone who chose these radicals.
Not just the people that represent us in Washington, but every single one of us needs to integrate this fight into our daily lives, proudly expressing our affiliation verbally, visually, fiscally, in every possible way, educating the public and reminding them that we exist and are not afraid. Better and more creative minds than my own should be able to form plans that would accomplish this.
Also, personally I'm boycotting televised news media for the foreseeable future. Not merely because I hate them all, although I certainly do, but because I can't stand to see the moron's smirking face or hear his voice and this is the best way by which to insulate myself. Consider it; it may make you feel better.
