I don't think I'll ever work for a Democratic candidate again...
My first election of activism was 1972, before I was old enough to vote. I doorbelled and worked offices for McGovern. He lost by the largest margin in history.

After taking the next two elections off (college kept me too busy), I volunteered to post road signs for Mondale. Like McGovern, he won only one state.

Did phone calling for Dukakis in '88. He blew an 18-point lead and lost.

Got sick of politics. Did nothing but vote in '92. Clinton won.

Mad at Bill for his welfare deform signature, I didn't even do that in '96. Voted for Nader -- Clinton won again.

Got active again for Gore in 2000. Won the popular vote, lost the Presidency.

After turning my back on Kerry and the Democrats during the primary season, changed my mind and wound up working at his Issaquah office. We go into election eve leading, and wind up losing everything.

Can't you see? I'm a jinx. Any time I work for a Democratic presidential candiate, he loses. Any time I stand back, he wins.

2. Thank you for the laugh! I needed that (I'm serious)
Thank you for your dedication to democracy. Something tells me that you will be helping again in the future. They can't keep a good person down.

The darkest hour is just before dawn.

3. Me too
Three different parties, all losses.

96 - Dole
00 - Nader
04 - Kerry

No matter what party I go with, I still lose.

:(

4. Honey, why didn't you work for Bush?
You could have saved your country.

5. I used to think I could make the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, and "Broons"
lose just by tuning in the game. Turns out it was just the Celts and Broons. :D
Please don't give up...it ain't you. Honest!

8. Back when I was living in Boston...
...just after another collapse by the Sox or Pats, a high-school friend said, "Every team I root for loses. I think I'll become a Republican."

;-)

7. Ah-ha! So it's YOUR fault that Kerry lost.
Cool! We finally have a scapegoat. After all, we couldn't lay the blame on Nader this time.
