This to me was the crux of the matter:
"I'm referring to Kerry's command that we act like good little boys and girls and eat our spinach and work with George Bush.
Amazingly and nonsensically, Kerry said, "In an American election, there are no losers, because whether or not our candidates are successful, the next morning we all wake up as Americans."
It wasn't that he lost, or even that he conceded. It was his suggestion that we tuck our tails between our legs that so incensed me. :grr:

"In an American election, there are no losers, because whether or not our candidates are successful, the next morning we all wake up as Americans."
Sorry, but in this election 99 percent of us are losers. It's just that half of them don't realize it yet.
Crucify the Christian Taliban.

Why would I want to "work together" with people who are so determined to destroy everything of any importance to me?

I can't say I was too happy with it, either. It was almost like he was still trying to pander to the center even after he had fricking lost!

a snip:
Kerry continued his lecture. As Americans, he said, his supporters have an "obligation. We are required now to work together for the good of our country. In the days ahead, we must find common cause, we must join in the common effort, without remorse or recrimination, without anger or rancor."
Hell no!
Common cause with George W. Bush?
Common cause with Dick Cheney?
Common cause with Karl Rove?
Common cause with Donald Rumsfeld?
Common cause with Paul Wolfowitz?
Common cause with John Ashcroft?
We have nothing in common with them. Their cause is not our cause.
For the good of the country, we must resist them.
Kerry said, "We must stand together and succeed in Iraq."
No way!
We will resist this war in Iraq with every nonviolent bone in our bodies.
So don't talk to us about the need "to bridge the partisan divide."
We don't want to bridge it.
And don't be naïve. Neither does Bush.
We lost, this time. But we refuse to lay down our principles and sleep with snakes.
Instead, we will regroup and live to fight another day, and one of these days we will win, not by making common cause with reactionary Republicans, but by convincing a majority of Americans that ours is a better way.
How dare you demand that we join up with Bush!
How dare you demand that we support his war in Iraq!
(snip)
Amen, Brother Rothschild.

We need closure on this election and mobilize for 2006. Diebold has spoken, not America. Kerry knew that he can't count untraceable votes with no paper trail. There is no way to make up 3.5 million votes out of thin air. Get it?
Kerry will still be in the Senate to try to stop the bleeding. He will need your support there. We need all the allies we can get to stop what could be a very ugly time in America.
Rothschild gave a mamby-pamby whining commentary. I bet he feels good now. Who fucking cares.

I read his screed again. Kerry never gave a good speech?
In no way did Kerry say we should fall in line with the Repugs. If anything, he wants to find common ground and possibly work with those willing to compromise on issues and not shut themselves off like they have been doing.
As for Iraq, Kerry doesn't want us to join in the cheerleading that Bush wants for his quagmire. Personally, although I opposed the war, we can't just leave it now. Bush owns it and we will call him on it.
Anyone who thinks that they are for peace by leaving Iraq to tumble into further turmoil is full of shit.
Like I said before, we need to move on. We can't count invisible votes from the paperless Diebold machines.
We need to work now on voting reform, more constraints and review of negative political ads, distracting the neocon agenda with impeachment proceeedings, mobilizing those awakened to vote this year with new progressive initiatives and holding the line on the Chimp's agenda. We need to focus now on 2006 and ridding the House of neocons.
Rothschild's column might make you feel good, but I think it's dishonest and predictable garbage.

15. Almost all the Democrats I know in person |
|
(ie., not in this DU echo chamber, but in real life) are angry about the count not being completed before concession.
It doesn't matter one whit if there was a chance of reversing the results or not. It has to do with how last election came out, and the fact that they PROMISED to ensure that all the votes would be counted this time.
Are you trying to say that ALL OF US are wrong for feeling this way? BULLSHIT! Kerry should have known the importance of simply making sure all the votes were in before giving up. He obviously didn't.
Yes, it was 'symbolic'. Symbols can be important, especially psychologically. It was like he deflated in a moment all the hard work we'd done for the last four years in order to salvage what was left of his own political career. By acquiesing so easily, and urging us to 'unify' with the bible-thumping, genocidal bastards, I feel he's done damage to the legitimacy of ANY opposition movement over the next four years.
I'm sure we're going to hear, "But Kerry said we should unify", more than once over the next four years, just like we heard the last four years before Gore finally got pissed off enough to speak up.

26. OK..let's count air and then demand a victory |
|
Gee whiz, we Democrats are mad.
Let's demand a recount on votes we can't recount! Let's look at the gamed Diebold machines that offer no paper trail and demand a paper trail!
Let's look like complete idiots in the courtroom with charges that can't be verified.
Then let's all fire at each other in a circular firing squad. That will take up a lot of energy that could otherwise be directed at something more productive and use for the 2006 elections.
Let's self destruct. Actually, count me out. I see that there are new battles to get ready for.

11. Kerry's comments were not |

of someone who understood the folks that passionately voted this year. He wanted to project himself as a statesman but the whole thing was not authentic! He didn't concede his views on VN, but now suddenly in the dew of morning we are surrendering our democratic values - He's got a really long time to think about that now in MA!

I couldn't agree more...anyone that thinks we should all just "try and get along" is a traitor to the cause we all fought so hard for...And anyone that believes Lt AWOL was really reaching out to those who voted against him are dumber than the ones that actually DID vote for him...
This has ALWAYS been about their way versus ours. This has ALWAYS been about their 'values' versus ours. This has ALWAYS been about their 'beliefs' versus ours.
They 'won'.
This time.
They cannot be allowed to win again.

Kerry is still under the mistaken impression that this is old-style politics, where there is civil disagreement and respect in the political forum. That's gone. I thought it was a very gracious, statesmanlike speech. Unfortunately, I don't know if that's what we need right now. By being gracious and trying to unify the country - something those fuckers squatting in the White House have NEVER tried to do - he makes it seem as if this is politics as usual.
It's going to take someone ultimately who, in losing, makes sure the rest of us win by drawing attention to the nightmare that our system has become. Al Gore did the same thing. I'm sick of watching good men make "let's all back the thieves that stole our election" speeches. Gore took a couple of years before he finally got some fire in his belly. I would have liked Kerry to show a little fire yesterday. When I saw Edwards introduce him, I thought Edwards looked like he was choking back his rage. I sure wish we'd seen that from JK. Until one of our "losing" presidential candidates rages against the machine in his "concession" speech, I fear nothing will get done. Because to investigate any of the fraud claims now is to admit that Bush is less than legitimate. And the freaks in control will never, EVER let that happen.

Until the DNC and these candidates that we give heart, soul, time, and money to actually do the work, look at the overwhelming evidence of massive voter fraud and e-voting, then I will not give any more money or time to these people. They will not fight for me -- I will not fight for them. Period.

28. Well damn if I don't agree |
|
We have
A) Either being outnumbered by uniformed/hateful Americans
B) Another(much worse this time in my opinion because it's being seen as legitimate) stolen one.
So yesterday, I refused to watch Kerry surrender and retreat.
And I was a rabid Kerry person, I was one that actually agreed with his war vote. I was one of them.
And I was betrayed. He didn't get it.
We have no unity with Geroge W. Bush. It's not going to happen.
EVER. No retreat/no surrender, we should keep that.
I meant it and I know most of you did too. Kerry didn't.
