1. I'm staying put.
As much as I'd like to get out, the reality is I can't afford it. Not to mention that my great grandmother was full-blood Cherokee, so my ancestors were already f*cked out of their land, so I feel I owe it to them to stay and fight!

3. I went into exile once
in January of 1985. I couldn't stomach another 4 years of Ray-gun's ruin. It was an easy choice. I had a South African boyfriend, and I thought for all the world I could march right over there and change everything. I spent 10 years slamming my head into a wall. What I encountered were a people (I'm talking about white folks here, because I am a white person and that was the society that for the most part I was forced to move in) so slack-witted and besotted by religion as to be unreachable. Even the more "progressive-minded" among the white community were, by and large (I'm trying to stay away from generalizations here because I met some fine, fiery, and genuinely committed people also) disorganized in their thinking and inclined to "leave it to our leaders. They know what they're doing." It was a profoundly unquestioning mentality.

Sadly, it is what I see now in America.

We would do well to study the lessons taught us by the ANC. I confess to never understanding and often being at odds with the ANC's philosophy, but now, 10 years on, I get it. I thought change could be brought about absent of the armed struggle. I thought the armed struggle hurt the cause. Now I understand it WAS the cause, and it was the only way.

Make of it what you will.

I'm going to stay and make the repukes as miserable as I can.
They wanted this asshole, well they got him, and I will remind them of it daily.
