The Poll Workers Control the Means of Election
Every year at the poll, it strikes me that the poll workers are all retirees. I wonder if more young people would turn out to vote if the poll workers were more likely to include college students and a few 30-40-somethings.

I feel that we could do a lot of good as poll workers in the 2008 elections. I know many of us volunteered to watch polls, canvas, phone bank, and so on; that kicks ass. It would be cool if a few of us could take off the multiple days required to work for our county governments on election day 2008.

There are a number of smaller elections coming up between now and 2008. Getting involved in election work now is a way to be sure of being involved when 2008 rolls around.

It also couldn't hurt to have people on the inside of the process. We all have an interest in keeping things fair and square.
