He was made for a more polite era. South Dakotans should be ashamed of how they treated him.

1. He was polite....
But the problem was that he was a weakling. He couldn't stand up to anyone. We need someone who isn't going to back down everytime the fascists glare at him/her. I hate to say it, but we are probably better off without him and any of the other spineless, pink tutu democrats.

3. I agree. He should never have been leader.
He was too much of a gentleman for the job.

2. i don't think he is a wimp and i'm very sad about his losing
i'm most upset about Kerry and 2nd most about Daschle.

i liked that Daschle coming from a solid red state stood against the anti gay amendment to the constitution even though most in his state supported it. i liked that he opposed bush's tax cuts. i liked how he dealt with the court appointments.

4. I don't at all
In fact, it was one of the good things that happened last night. Daschle is a go along to get along DINO. He can lick my balls. The party needs to be purged of all posers.

5. If you had asked me a week ago...
I would have said I spit on his grave.

But I don't have the heart to kill Tom today. We took such a hit, we are all losers right now.

7. No one is saying he is a bad guy
Edited on Thu Nov-04-04 03:23 AM by sub.theory
He is a nice guy. Just a miserable leader. He just wasn't cut out for hardball politics. We need someone with more fight in them.

Edit: changed to present tense...not like he's dead yet or anything :)

8. I regret the loss of his seat. It makes the damage he did to
the country by putting his own electoral interests ahead of the party's interests that much worse. And now, in their wisdom, the senate dems are poins to elect another leader from an unsafe state.

10. As much as I hate the loss of a Senate seat (and Thune is a piece of shit)
Spineless Daschle got what he deserved. Good riddance.

11. The chickens came home to roost this election
Edited on Thu Nov-04-04 09:51 AM by Pithy Cherub
with the bend don't break Dem philosophy. Yhe only one who could do it was Clinton. Gephardt too, along with Daschle made the congressional Dems weaker by not being able to articulate a clear agenda. That is the role of a leader. Hopefully, they will find positions they are better suited for that allows them to remain the consummate gentlemen.

12. Any sympathy I had for him was lost when he backed Bush's war.
Hopefully, he will be replaced by someone less eager to "compromise" with boobya.

13. A little anthrax goes a long way.
Remember that? Leahy got a fuck you from Big Dick for NOT keeping his mouth shut.

I would love to have a 5 minute conversation with Daschle on the anthrax letter origin(s).

14. Daschle has disappointed me time and again, but I really feel bad for him
And for us. We needed his seat if nothing else. I had stated on the board previously, like so many others, that while I wanted him to hang on to his seat I no longer wanted him to be leader. He's a good man with a good heart, but he just didn't have the fight that it takes to be our senate leader.

I do feel bad for him and I'm pissed we lost that seat - we couldn't afford to lose any of them. It makes me sad that some here on DU seemed happy he lost - especially since I feel where they're coming from but I disagree that it was a good thing that he lost.
