Blue State vs. Red State Thoughts....... |
|
One thing that really gets my blood boiling regarding the divide of blue states vs. red states is this....The amount of money that the BLUE STATES contribute to the federal budget vs. the RED States. We in the blue states contribute MORE than we get back. GRRR. I would really like to see the US map drawn up financially to see how much those of us in the evil Northeast and the looney left-coast LOSE in supporting all of the red states that hate us for our freedoms. I may have to state putting a map together, unless someone knows of one already in existence.

Someone posted a map that showed there are no real "blue" states because it's just the urban areas that are blue and have the most people. Well, okay, but those urban areas have spent the money on an infrastructure that allows them to be successful. Cities avoid some of the dupication needed outside their boundaries because of the doubled use of roads, mass transit, city services, etc.
Rural areas need a whole set of each of these things for a limited number of people. I don't want to hurt a bunch of people in rural areas, but large cities pay for their services and then they don't want us to have the same. They cite some god that asks them to vote for a bunch of murderous neo-cons and basically leave us to continue our financial hemorrhage into their little enclaves.
We need rural areas. They supply food, recreation, and could gain some great independence by producing crops for biomass fuels. But we don't need to keep supplying them with money, denying us the funds to pay for the same services for us.
If you get the chance, read John Norquist's book "The Wealth of Cities". He is the Democratic Mayor or Milwaukee who just left office in November of 2003.
