So When Will The Draft Begin?
We have an impending bloodbath in Fallujah, Ramadi and I believe Mosul as well. That means literally hundreds of dead soldiers and perhaps thousands more wounded. I believe the draft will be announced before the end of January and start sometime in Feb. or March. Freepers get your kids ready, you wanted * you get him and his never ending wars.

3. Anywhere from May to September 2005
It is going to get very bad over there fast. I am expecting a Tet style offensive agains the Green Zone any day now.

4. Never
Because:

1) The military doesn't want it (they know volunteers fight better).
2) Congress doesn't want it (they know they would lose their jobs).
3) Republicans don't want it (they don't want their kids killed).

Bush will pull troops from every place in the world before he re-instates the draft. It simply will never happen. Yes, there already is a backdoor draft, and that sucks. But the idea that we will see a return to a Vietnam style draft is a fantasy of Democrats who right now are struggling to find an issue they can win with.

Give it up people, this isn't it.

5. if not, then Bush will have to abandon his ambitions
probably will have to cut and run from Iraq.

The question is, which will he choose? I'm inclined to think he'd rather flip-flop on the draft than give up his mission from God.

7. Yes he will
and I guarantee you that he will dump his military ambitions before re-instating the draft. The draft is political dynamite and he and Karl Rove know it. Its naive to think they would try to bring it back.

14. They will increase salaries and bonuses
The military doesn't want a draft. Period, end of story. If they need more people they will start offering better pay, large signing bonuses--and young people with no other options in life will sign up in droves because at 18 most think they will live forever.

11. Did Bush ever say flat out no draft?
I asked this in another thread. It'll be hard work if he has to change his mind, because he means what he says and says what he means. How will he weasel his way into a draft? Will he blame the military for demanding one?

12. Just remember this....
In July 2002 he said he "had no war plans on his desk". He didn't lie, they were in the drawer.
