There is no good reason organized religion and liberal politics can't be compatible. The churches were a huge organizing tool for Republicans this year, and Democrats need to organize in the churches too.

I loved the story about the DU'er who stormed out of her sunday service when the priest started canvassing for Bush last weekend. But I loved it because I imagined that she was encouraging others to follow her and because I imagined that they all weren't going to walk out that door and then go home and watch TV or work in their gardens. I imagined that they were going to go to another church which preached real christianity and that they were going to bring over their friends from their old church.
