Let me see if I get this straight.
Alabama voted AGAINST a measure that would have SCRAPPED UNCONSTITUTIONAL SEGREGATIONIST STATE LAWS OFF THE BOOKS?

If I EVER personally meet ANYONE who admits to have voted like THAT (thankfully not a very probable event), I SWEAR TO ALL THAT'S SACRED I'M GONNA PUNCH THAT PERSON IN THE FACE REPEATEDLY UNTIL SOMEONE KNOCKS ME UNCONSCIOUS!!!!

And no, being a 90-year-old lady won't be an excuse.

1. It's Alabama heritage, you understand.
It's not against anybody, it's just part of history. Scrapping it would be like scrapping the Ku Klux Klan. You understand?

6. The business lobby in Alabama, which is quite wealthy and powerful,
went after this amendment hammer and tong on the grounds that removing that language from the state constitution would allow judges to impose tax increases to fund schools. (The language is question is a clause that states that citizens do not have a right to a state-funded education.) Apparently many people believed them.

Anyway, there's much more to the situation than what you present here.

9. I realize that.
Just having a little post-election fun at Alabama's expense. Sorry!

2. And this is problem...
Punching 90-year-old ladies to death IS NOT going to win ANYONE to the Democratic party.

This kind of nonsense is NOT helping.

Newbie or not, I think this is just sick and evil.

Not in the American sense. ;)

5. If Ann Coulter can say the way to talk to liberals is with a baseball bat
Me, a not-on-the media nobody, can say that.

But of course, since she's a RW nut, she can later say it was an hyperbole and get a pass. Leftists can't, even when it clearly is.

Go ahead and post my post back "home". See if I care.

7. I'm no more "on the media" than you are
And I don't bother reading Ms. Coulter's stuff.

With all the REAL trolls around, it might be wise to temper your language a bit. The last thing you want is to be a tool for the other side.

"I will beat old ladies" - yeah, THAT gives the Democratic party a good name.

8. Brisker, I'll give you a clue
which I really shouldn't. It is very rare when a member of DU who is glad to be here criticizes another member for reflecting poorly on the Democratic Party. Most of us are Democrats, true. But some of us are Greens, some of us are independent--some of us are even Brazilians, believe it or not! Can you imagine?

10. Well, it IS true that siglines aren't up.
Can't blame a newbie for assuming I'm American.

12. Well, you sounded like you were in the "Deep South"

The sigline would have helped, and that's no one's fault. (Well, it's the trolls' fault I guess.)

And emotions are running high all over. Mine too.

And thanks to (gotta look back for the name) edit: BurtWorm for the hint. Point humbly taken.
