Starting today, and effective until January 20, 2009, every time something bad happens to a red city in a red state-- something which a John Kerry Presidency might have prevented-- my response will be this:

I DON'T GIVE A FUCK.

Massive layoffs in Wichita? I DON'T GIVE A FUCK.

Skyrocketing gas prices in Birmingham? I DON'T GIVE A FUCK.

Seniors unable to pay for prescription drugs in Salt Lake City? I DON'T GIVE A FUCK.

Young men and women from Omaha, Knoxville, and Jefferson City getting drafted and killed in preemptive wars based on cherry-picked fake intelligence? I DON'T GIVE A FUCK.

Outsourced jobs in Tulsa? I DON'T GIVE A FUCK.

Record bankruptcies in Pensacola? I DON'T GIVE A FUCK.

National Guardsmen from Fort Wayne being held over in Iraq due to a reserve system stretched thin? I DON'T GIVE A FUCK.

I DON'T GIVE A FUCK ANYMORE. If you feel so strongly that this President's supposed "values" trump everything that he's done wrong, then fine. Last time I checked, opposing gay marriage didn't create jobs, and banning abortion didn't get us out of a quagmire in Iraq.

You've made your priorities clear. Now I have mine. And Red America, you're not one of them anymore.

When 3,000 people die in yet ANOTHER terrorist attack in a major American city on the East Coast, then believe me, I WILL DEFINITELY GIVE A FUCK.

I only have so much compassion to go around. I'm saving it up for Blue America.

25. I was looking at everyone with suspicion today when I picked up my kids
from school. Who voted for Bush?

Because I plan on blaming them for every thing that goes wrong, and we sure as hell know catastrophes are coming during the next four years.

Last time, he didn't even win and people could have (wrongly) actually bought into the whole "compassionate conservative" BS. Not this time. THEY OWN IT. They are responsible for all of it.

This is really making life interesting in my relationship with family members who voted for Bush.

64. I was giving a woman the dirty eye ball today while I was walking
aimlessly around my neighborhood in the rain. She was getting out of an expensive car in front of a house with Bush signs. I was practically growling at her. She look concerned, then crossed the street and knocked on the door of the house where the lovely democratic gay couple lives. Ooops.

a small car sticker, a bracelet, etc. We need to be able to recognize each other for the reasons mentioned.....I will no longer lift a finger to help or even be friendly to any * voters.
Divided? Damn straight. As of Tuesday, these people are no longer the "loyal opposition." They are the enemy as far as I'm concerned, and I'll have nothing to do with them.

65. Me too..a guy in my office has put out a picture of Bush with the
firefighters after 9-11 looking all resolute or something. I said that looks just like the blue steel look from zoolander. I got into an argument with 2 in my office yesterday who backed off because they knew I was right.

I read a wonderful essay today by a young grad student who basically said with all the facts, the busted economy, an unnecessary war that has killed thousands,with the prison torture scandals and the loss of respect by the rest of the world, 51% still voted for him.

Not one fucking complaint are they allowed, not one. When they bitch about gas prices, expensive heating bills, high prescription drug costs, or a relative dying in Afghanistan or Iraq, I am going to say suck it up you girlie men. You had all the facts about his incompetency and you still voted for him so shut the fuck up.

it's like in Orwell's "1984" when Winston, the main character, keeps looking for signs in others that they are like spirits.

As for my relations w/ my family, they're shot. I am furious w/ my husband for censoring my daughter's thoughts on her website, (she's a full grown woman living independently) and for him telling me that 'worldview' means letting the UN run our lives, and that the SWift Boat Liars had it right! Daughter tells me to cool it, but how can I when I have to live w/ this ignorance?

I am sure he will be glued to the screen watching the action in Iraq.

And they voted against it. We can keep caring in a general way, but we don't have to prop up their delusions.

Let them try to get by with George and "Jesus" (the fake one). It might just make them take another look at what our side is offering.

We shouldn't change our positions / political philosophy, but we need to drop the "poor poor souls in Witchita lost their jobs" attitude. We need to take a tuff love approach: "It wouldn't happen if you listen to our side."

I will no longer take one step to avert or ameliorate the consequences of the actions of this administration. That includes donating even 1$ to a charity and thereby subsidizing the Right agenda of shrinking the government and abolishing all social programs.

The American people have decided that keeping two people of the same sex out of the same bed and forced child-bearing are more important than jobs, health care, or the lives of any children in the world who do not happen to be born to the ruling Oligarchs.

asked the kid who delivered pizza the other night who he voted for. He said "didn't vote, but wouldn't have voted Kerry". I said "Wrong answer, dude, here's fifty center, if you had voted for Kerry, it would have been five bucks". Simple, small protest, but I felt better. And I let me dog poop on the repugs lawn next door and didn't clean it up.

I could not have said it better. This being my first post since black Tuesday and having had ample time to reflect I think simply this:

Fuck 'em

They wanted control, now they have control. As for the "little people" or what is left of the "middle class".....Don't come crying to me when civil liberties erode, when states are ask to pick up a larger burden of costs and end up raising taxes, when someone feels "taken advantage of" by the system, when you cant treat your children because you dont have health care, when your sons and daughters are killed in an unnecessary war, or when any of a hundred other things the mindless seem to think GW can "protect" them from become realities in their life.

Next time a corporate charity ask for my $$$ I am going to direct their request to the white house. Next time I hear someone complain about not getting a job, I will direct them to the white house, next time I hear someone bitch about high consumer prices and inflation, I will direct them to the white house, and so on and so on.

If we are going to play this every-man-for-himself-game, I am ready, I have plenty of money, and I have a really pissed off attitude that is not going to go away anytime soon....

So to your point Rat.... hear hear.... FUCK 'EM ALL Red States, you made this bed, now get comfortable in it.

I am done for now.

had nothing to do with this, will be the ones hurt first and hardest. However, when my fundie co-worker who is living way above his base salary(huge mortgage, private christian school, etc) thanks to overtime loses that overtime, I will remind him that at least gays can't get married!

I came to that same conclusion this morning. Of all the nerve someone could have, two days after the election one of my RW in-laws calls up this morning wanting to hit me up for a "loan". Now in the past I have been everybody's "favorite uncle" or brother-in-law or whatever and have been pretty good about handing out a few bucks here and there to help feed the babies etc.

Well, today is a different day. So after he hits me up, I ask him,"who did you vote for?". His answer "you know I voted for Bu$h"
I promptly told him I had no help for him , that he might try his church or perhaps call the local Repuke party headquarters to see if they had any help for him, because I certainly didn't. After he expressed his disappointment at my attitude, I told him "buck up, you're a rugged individual, you'll come up with something. Grab those 'ol bootstraps and pull as hard as you can." He hangs up.

Ten minutes later, his fat-ass super-fundie bitch of a wife calls me up ragging about what a "mean old bastard" I am. " My kids might go hungry and you're making an issue of who we voted for." My answer was: " No, your kids possibly going hungry is precisely WHAT YOU VOTED FOR. You and your husband spent the entire run-up to the election spitting in the face of everything I believe then two days after the election have the nerve to ASK ME FOR MONEY? A mean old bastard? You bet! It's a mean country and you voted to make it that way, now live with it. And by the way, if your lard ass would stop eating so fucking much, there might be something around for your kids to eat."

She slammed the phone down and that was that. I've spent the rest of the day thinking about what I did and if it was right or not and I've come to a conclusion.......DAMN THAT FELT GOOD!!!!!!

she is still laughing about it, and these are HER relation. She always got on me because I am such an old softie about helping people out, even when it hurts us a little. I think it surprised her to see me turn ugly on their ass so quick.

If they believe in Bush, they should be accountable for caring for their kids. They should be able to find a job, "because anyone who wants to work in America can, or they're just lazy." They should go to churches and other faith-based groups that are supposed to pick up the slack for cuts in social programs. They can get food and clothing from charities.

Or maybe they're just hypocrites who don't mind hitting up relatives for money rather than following the precepts their own party teaches.

Let the values that they share with George W. Bush keep them warm and dry, and keep their bellies filled. This is a great story. Let their churches that rant against homosexuality and abortion practice a little of the social gospel and provide them a little lucre.

This is about the only thing that wil work against their hero. If they start to personally be hurt by their decision, they may thing twoice before making it again.

I hope you stick to your guns on this and never give to them again. You owe their kids a good lesson on this as well.

I guarantee you have been financing their ability to live a little more comfortably while they praise the guy who is the reason that the need your assistance to begin with.

We can all do this in lot of ways. I used to give money to a local church that helps the homeless. I didnt like it but they are the only game in town.

I just too the latest envelope they sent me and wrote a note stateing that I could not give anything to them again, as their position on who should be president was something I felt detrimental to the wellbeing of the nation that I will never contribute to them again.
I told them to ask the president to make up the shortfall.

We can do this with everything. Though it may hurt in the short run, it will have a dramatic effect in the long run. Look closely at any organizations that you contribute to and make absolutely certain that they had no part in supporting Bush.

This gives me a very strong sense that it is likely that many such organizations that may be charitable in nature have in ways supported the Bush Administration, but get a good deal of financing from due to the good will of people who give to them because of the services they provide, ewithout thinking of the candidate they support. Nothing to any organization tha remotely supports the right wing system of "values"

My wife was heavily involved with a "mission church" here that runs a kitchen for the homeless etc. I'm not a church guy myself, but she attended every Sunday. She came home one Sunday and told me about the Pastor singing the praises of GW. "How dare he" was my reaction. She thought a minute and realized I was right and hasn't been back since. I'm waiting for them to call and ask why and I hope I am the one who answers the phone.

Is that their entire value system, based on opposing homosexuality or abortion is has the most minimal scriptural basis. Out of the entire bible there are only THREE statements about homosexuality, and one is a big stretch because it seem to be talking more anbout men dressing like wonem and women dressing like men. There are zero statements about abortion and it requires the interpretation of six old testement quotations dealing with the sanctity of the person in the womb. and most of these do not directly refer to everyopne being sanctified in the womb, but were psalms where David is speaking to God as havinf sanctified HIM in the womd, that is to say he was chosen by God in the womb to be the King of Israel. There are absolutely NO direct statements in the bible which define abortion as incorrect or sinful. None whatsoever.

This is what they base their entire system of values on:

Homosexuality

This is the whole show, the entire scriptural basis of the supporters of George W. Bush for their ENTIRE value system.

I am rather disappointed in my Catholic Co-Religionists. There is not\ excuse for the massive failure they have shown in completely ignoring social justice while focusing on these petty scriptural side issues. Given that before Pope John Paul II ever commented on aboprtion or homosexuality, the first words he spoke ever in the United States were in his homily in the mass he gave at Yankee Stadium:

That voice has not been limited to exhortations. In three great social encyclicals, John Paul II expounded in detail the Christian ethical concepts of economic justice and a fully human development for all peoples. The spirit breathing through these documents was felt in a passage of the homily the pope gave on Oct. 2, 1979, at a Mass for 80,000 people in New York City’s Yankee Stadium: “The poor of the United States and of the world are your brothers and sisters in Christ. You must never be content to leave them just the crumbs from the feast. You must take of your substance, and not just of your abundance, in order to help them.”

The leader of the Catholic Church did not decide to take issue with abortion or homosexuality in his first words to the American peopleafter his ascnension to the throne of Peter. His first words had to do with social justice and the social gospel, not individual behavior.

I will not bother to try to give even a comprehensive sample of scripture on social justice and the requirements to give everything you have to assist the poor. It would eat up all of DU's band width.

Bush supporters values systems as as shallow as most of their intellects.

I told him all Dems have ever wanted and fought for was to make this country a better place and all we ever do is get shit on for it. I told him from now on it's about me and mine. That I was going to make sure that me and my family were fine but I DON'T CARE what happens to everyone else.

He was like "Well that's not a very nice attitude"

I told him "Well it's my attitude, like it or leave it."

Shortly afterwards I saw the article about layoffs in Wichita and I laughed and said to myself, FUCK THEM ALL. I know Wichita was heavy for the Bush.

I also feel a kinship with all those who supported Kerry. We need to find a way to build upon this sensen of community. Let's face it, our side is generally better educated and more creative. We should consider creating communities, business and social that support each other. I'd love to live in the Bay Area in California but it is not really an option. I'm stuck for now in a red state cringing at all the W paraphenalia.

I've read posts about moving to swing states. After the initial panic and research on moving to Canada I came to realize that this is MY country and I am going to fight for it. Perhaps we should colonize those swing states. Send our best and brightest and forge a better tomorrow.

90. If you do want to colonize, might i suggest Delaware
It is the state with the greatest (and rising percentage) of companies filing for bankrupcies. its laws seem to be quite favorable and a sort of loophole. it is small, provides 2 senators, still on the east coast (near some blue), and at least 1 congressmen. it has something less than a million people; i think 600,000 or so (smaller than SF proper...).

if you do conquer it please help change the state's laws to remove the bankrupcy leniency. it'll be a great way to leave many bastards out high and dry.

.. I'm in a wierd, detached mode now. I feel badly for our troops who are being attacked in Iraq. But I really feel such a detachment to all of this right now. Before, when I read of everything going wrong here and abroad, I was moved to anger and sadness, but I felt great thinking that Bush was going to be gone after the election. Obviously, the dick is still going to be in the White House.

From now on, all the efforts I formerly put into this election will now be pointed toward the cold civil war. I'm going to spend as much time as possible researching where every cent of our money goes. (And we make pretty good money, too.) Not a cent goes anywhere that supports the right wing in any way.
Another thing we should all be doing: Making a laughing stock out of people who pay no attention to government and politics. 99% of the Bush voters I know are so woefully uninformed it's not even funny. They know more about Nascar than the way our government functions. From now on, anyone I encounter that knows nothing about the way their country functions will be on object of derision and humor.

We all know that the Republicans fiscal policies are disastrous for all those lower and middle class fundies who just voted them into 4 more disastrous years. They want to dismantle federal programs, I say let them.

The blue states subsidize the red states. We pay the taxes and they are given to the Republican states. So let them privitize Social Security, get rid of Medicare and Medicaid, end welfare, as long as they also end farm subsidies and corporate handouts.

People will suffer, but the red states will suffer much less, because WE'VE GOT MORE MONEY. Let the states take care of their own citizens. This should be the most efficient way to get the Republicans out of power. People eventually will vote their pocketbooks, or at least many will. The extremist evangelicals are a lost cause, these are the same people that give to Jerry Falwell even though they can't pay for food or clothing. But the average person will eventually see the light, after the Repugs take away all those programs that they depend on much more heaivly in the red states.
