We are all focused on losing. And while this is understandable, Bush marches on. They are defining their "mandate" to their favor. Why are we not pointing out that in a divided country, his MANDATE from the country is to fix his messes and win the war on terror, not enact radical reform?

We may not be able to define the "mandate" completely, but I think we can influence how it is perceived by the general public.

This also allows us to "stand up for something" by drawing the dems lines in the sand, what we will "go along with" and what we will oppose. This is necessarily a values-based position, which is unfortunately why we don't currently have said position. Kerry should have drawn these lines in his concession speech, but alas, he failed there, too.
