From a software/programming illiterate point of veiw (which I am), I wonder if it's even possible to detect whether a vote was tampered with. If a vote is entered into the computer then switched to another candidate and left at that, I imagine in time you may be able to find the tampering within the tons of software data. But, if a vote is tampered with, then somehow, the first casted vote data was erased as if it were never even voted on, how would you know it was tampered with? Would the action of erasing something that was there be evident? Or is it gone forever without a trace? This seems very complicated to me and i'm not expecting anyone to teach my programming a-z, but i'm just wondering to what extent a programmer can detect fraud? Is there anyway there can be fraud with no trail whatsoever?
