If this imminent attack by us on Fallujah fails, what are the consequences? It seems Bush is trying to bring down the hammer to end this at some point and will thus use as much power as can be used.
If this attack fails, I predict the Draft.

2. I don't know. I think that they are going to throw everything to prove |
|
we can take the country.
If they don't then it means there aren't enough troops.

Without killing every man, woman, and child?

9. I don't know...it seems unreasonable to say that a country |
|
can't be taken unless all of its citizens are killed.

10. It seems pretty unreasonable that we can "take" Fallujah. |
|
Or Iraq. The only thing we can take is the oil and we're not even doing that very well.

15. Sounds like you're sticking your head in the sand. |

The war in Iraq is unwinnable. If there's going to be a draft, there's nothing we can do to stop it. I suggest stop playing Pollyanna with the war.

5. Dont know about that... |
|
but I think the attack has a good chance of killing every living thing within the city.
If that equals success in your books then maybe.

I didn't want to go to Iraq but we are there, we lost the election and now we must figure this cluster-fuck out.
My main question: If this attack fails, will there be a draft?
Edit: I'm not a Democrat but am leaning that way...but I will say this - the main problem I see with this party is the reluctance to look at reality and find a solution that will work regardless of whether or not it is perfect. That is what Americans want and that is what we must appeal to.

8. Of course it will "fail." |
|
Will the Iraqi people all decide, oh, well, they flattened Falluja, let's just go along with whatever they want? Will the insurgents suddenly think, Gosh, they're so tough, I better lay down my arms?
Iraqis won't stop fighting Americans. Period.
If Bush can raid the SS fund and use the dough to pay mercenaries, heck, who needs a draft??

12. It does not seem that Bush will raid SS to pay mercenaries. We |
|
can't stop a draft because that is the young crowd that does not vote. The SS crowd does - and will punish the Republicans in 06.
And yes, that is what they are trying to do in Iraq. Come on guys...I'm with you on this but if we don't secure Iraq we are in for a much worse scenario.
Think about this - Iraq and Iran...we fail and leave. Think Iran will want to finish the TIE from the 80's? Saddam barely kept the tie with the worlds 3rd largest army.

11. well if thats the case.... |
|
how can this attack fail?
Like I said they will probably just kill everything in the city using bombs, artillery, mortars, and then send in infantry to clean up.
If the city is surrounded live I've heard it was the only way they could "fail" is if the insurgents either break out somehow, or kill scores of our people.

14. I'm 22, voted for Kerry and protested the war - I've fought |
|
against a draft and we must figure out what is going to happen here.
