Listen, an "anti-interracial marriage" amendment in those states
Edited on Thu Nov-04-04 09:10 PM by Lex
.
WOULD'VE PASSED (in those states that passed the "anti-gay marriage" amendments).

Fortunately, because of the US Supreme Court case of "Loving v. Virginia" it is not possible to outlaw interracial marriage. (Although many state used to outlaw it.)

But lots of people, given the chance, would give it a thumbs down in certain states. IMHO.

It doesn't make it right to be bigoted just because many other people are.

1. Oregon just removed an anti-interracial marriage clause
from their constitution a couple years ago. I don't remember the numbers but I think it was around 65/35 in the general election.

It's exactly the same issue.

3. Given the chance to step up and vote their bigotry
people will never cease to amaze me. Sadly.

And it's not just limited to bigotry against gays.

What if we allowed the general population to vote on all minority rights issues?

2. Stand by
With 3 new ultra-conservative supreme court justices, who knows what they will decide on "for the good of the country"-yeah, right.

9. Yes, listened to some on talk radio last night...it was astounding
The "Moral Majority" repukes/DINO's voted to re install this fascist pig into OUR WHITE HOUSE, By implementing SELECTIVE MORALITY!

Right now, I'm angry so what I say may have to be retracted later, but I'm REALLY angry with the Hispanic vote. Of all the nerve!

SCREW them and their fellow mex illegals free pass and driver's licenses and 6% homeloans and me marching in the streets for THEIR RIGHTS... And ....(gonna get flamed here) SCREW THE CATHOLIC CHURCH! They went AGAINST us this time for one stinking issue..

In fact, I urge all liberal believers of every persuasion to abandon their churches until this is settled. Find another group of liberal believers to commune with until further notice. I did.

5. The new "Jim Crow" laws

That's what I've been calling the laws in the 11 states that passed them, including my shameful state of OK. I hold my head up proudly that I voted against the damn thing.

6. Actually, that's a brilliant idea!
We need to try to push through legislation like that, to the point of ridiculousness. Maybe people would get them message.

anti-interriacial marriage
anti-African American voting
anti-women land-owning
anti-non-land-owning voting

I think I'm onto something here.

7. That's Not Entirely Correct...
Mississippi of all places put their miscegenation law on the ballot..

About 65% of folks there voted against keeping miscegenation laws...

Funny thing is there were some black folks among that 35%...

8. Unfortunately the Dem Party suffers for it's views on racial equality too.
The amazing thing is how people accept different forms of bigotry.
