some republican tactics that we might consider
they are very good at certain things, and their methods often disgust us, but, they are very effective. so far, democrats have been reluctant to use these methods, and we get trounced.

RIDICULE. if we can't ridicule bush, then there's no such word.

FEAR. fear of the draft, martial law, another great depression, all things that we should constantly remind people of.

INTIMIDATION. BULLYING. DIVISION. ACRIMONY. YELLING. LYING. CHEATING. MUD SLINGING. ATTACKING. APPEALING TO THE RELIGIOUS. (they'll tell you that you arent' a real christian)

DIGGING UP AND EXPOSING DIRT ON THE ENEMY. why haven't we done this?

HAVE REPORTERS ON OUR SIDE WHO WILL ASK TOUGH QUESTIONS OF THE APE.

and we don't have to become them to defeat them, just take a few samples out of the nasty nazi republican playbook. they wrote these rules, let's see how they like being subjected to them.

1. Get ballot initiatives about wedge issues put on the swing state ballots
Like "This bill authorizes the execution of mothers who get abortions", or "This bill forces adulterous men to be chemically casterated for one month to a year, following an affair"

I dunno, just an idea.

willie horton was a black murderer who's face daddybush put in his ads to scare white folks into voting for him. it worked too. fear works.

hey bush voter, aren't you afraid your little boy eric is going to iraq to die? hey, arent' you afraid of your retirement being spent by pirates? arent' you afraid of being attacked again like we were under bush's watch?

3. Infiltrate the "evangelicals"
And spread nasty rumors about republicans.

"I know I shouldn't say anything, but John Smith (R) molested his son and paid his wife off to keep her silent. I don't like the democrat, but I sure as hell ain't voting for no child molester!"

5. Print it up in a book
Get one of those self-publishing deals you can find on the internet. Make up some publishers name. Pass it around, and BAM! It's in print! It must be true! No one would print lies due to liability concerns!

9. You don't need rumors. Use facts to expose them as immoral.
Ken Calvert, Rep. CA, was arrested in 1994 while getting a blowjob from a prostitute. He still holds office.

Dan Burton, Rep IN has an illegitimate son that he fathered while married. Unfortunately, he wasn't married to the woman he impregnated.

David Dreier, Rep. CA is a closted gay who is an outspoken opponent of gay rights. He still holds office.

Henry Hyde, Rep IL had a four year extramarital affair that led to the breakup of the woman's marriage. He was in his 40s when it happened, yet he attributes it to "youthful indiscretions." He is still in office.

Bill Thomas, Rep. CA, had an affair with GOP lobbyist Deborah Steelman. He is still a member of the House of Representatives.

Jim Nussle, Rep. IA, left his wife and kids and married a lobbyist. He still holds office.

Lincoln Chafee, Sen. RI, has admitted to cocaine and marijuana use. He is still a member of the Senate.

These are just the GOP members that are holding federal offices at this time. I have a growing list of right-wingers from all across the country that are guilty of everything from rape to child molestation to money laundering. We need to work on getting this information to normal people.

I have documentation on all of this. It's not just rumors. I've been a busy little beaver since the idiot was crowned king on Tuesday.

12. We can shout this from the heavens, but the trick is...
How do we get people to think this is an example of their flawed character, rather than a one time flub?

That's how they get democrats. They pick up on every stupid mistake a politician makes and shout from their soapboxes about how it's an example of the corrupt democrats.

Everytime a republican get's caught doing stuff, they get a free pass because it's touted as a one time thing or "youthful indescretions".

We need some way to change that.

15. There are two ways to do it and they are both GOP tactics
The first is what you mentioned. Every time a GOP member does something that is not kosher, we hit them hard through LTTE, e-mail campaigns, etc. We get up on a soapbox and shout, "Hey did you hear what that immoral bastard did?" Fight fire with fire.

The other tactic is the use of keywords and phrases that paint a negative image of the GOP. I'm working on a list now. It's quite extensive. I'll post it in a little while. Newt Gingrich did this in 1990 and the effects were felt this election cycle with Bush's use of "liberal," "pessimistic," "status quo," etc. It's very effective. It's basically PsyOps to plant words and images in listeners minds that make them doubt the GOP. We need to turn this tactic against the GOP.

There are a lot of things we can do. We have the manpower and the intelligence. Organizing the resources we have is what we need to work on.

18. If you are going to work on fundamentalists, you need to ask them why
the GOP hasn't followed through on their promises to ban abortion and outlaw gay marriage. They are in control of the government. If they wanted to they could ban them. (It's highly unlikely they could find enough support for the bans, even within their own party.) The GOP doesn't want to ban them because that would eliminate much of the wedge issues they have with their voters.

17. Actually, we need to eliminate these as wedge issues
The way we need to do it is by forcing the GOP to shit or get off the pot when it comes to abortion and gay marriage. They've been promising their followers that they will ban both. Let's make them act on it now. An e-mail campaign demanding immediate action on both issues. It's a pretty safe bet neither amendment would pass but it would piss off their followers when they fail to follow through on their promises. And since the GOP has complete control of the government, they will have only themselves to blame for the failure to follow through.

6. We need a thread to brainstorm ideas to fight the right
I am working on exposing the GOP for the immoral thugs that they are. I posted four posts yesterday about GOP immoralities. I've got a list of about 60 past and present GOP members and their conservative allies that have committed various immoral acts. It's growing every day thanks to DUers. But we need to set up a network of people that will monitor the local and state media to expose the thugs when they do something wrong.

Another GOP tactic that was developed by Newt Gingrich in 1990 is a "lexicon of destruction," as he called it. It was a list of words the the GOP had to memorize and use when speaking of Democrats. Some of the words were on the list we heard from Bush during this election-"liberal," "mandate," "status quo," "pessimistic," "hypocrisy"...

We need to create a list of terms that fit the GOP and use them every time we mention them. I've been working on a list. It contains words like "radical," "extremist," "anti-family," "convicted," "fiscally irresponsible,", "most hated country," "anti-education," "draft," "bankrupt (in both the moral and fiscal sense)" and on and on. I'll post the complete list in another post.

Another thing we need to do is force the issue on their two biggest wedge issues. They have used abortion and gay marriage against us. Let's turn it against them. They have had control of the White House, the Senate, The House, and the Supreme Court now for 4 years and had control of all except the White House for the 6 years preceding that. Now their control has strengthened and we can make abortion and gay rights work for us by demanding that they pass amendments banning abortion and gay marriage. They won't do it because they know they could never pass the amendments. Besides, if they do then they lose their two biggest wedge issues. But when they don't do it their followers will want to know why. Their failure to act on these issues while they are in control could turn many fundamentalists against them.

I can go on and on but right now I feel that no one is listening. We have over 50 thousand members. If we work together we can actually get things done. The problem is, how do we get everyone to cooperate?

11. Proof is the key word.
We need to be able to show people when we say that someone is immoral that we actually have documentation to back it up. I have links to internet articles from legitimate sources (CNN, Slate, Salon, etc) to back up everything I say about the immorality of the GOP.

The way to handle Bush on Christianity is to show how he contradicts Christian doctrines through his actions. I don't know enough about the Bible to pull that one off but we have Christian DUers here that could help on that one.

16. True. I'm not arguing against that tactic
It is one tactic that needs to be used and can be quite powerful since much of their base is fundamentalist Christians. But it shouldn't target Bush; it should target every GOP politician in office today. We need to expose them for the hypocrites that they are.

It's one tactic. There are many. This is what we need. We need to come up with ideas, then and expand and modify them until they are foolproof. Then we need to organize our membership to distribute the ideas that we come up with. It's like a trial. The defense lawyer's job is to plant seeds of doubt in the jury's mind. We need to plant seeds of doubt about the morality and honesty of the GOP in voters minds before the next election.

We have some real superstars in the Democratic Party. Barak Obama and Hillary Clinton, Howard Dean, John Kerry and John Edwards. We need to start now to give these guys a chance to hold office and to correct the crap the GOP has created.

8. Humor Is Our Most Powerful Weapon
Edited on Fri Nov-05-04 06:47 AM by C_U_L8R
The wonderful thing about humor is that
it reveals the truth in a way that shames,
belittles and defangs them.

They can't hurt us if everyone is laughing at them.

19. You can make people afraid that their futures will go up in smoke
If the GOP is allowed to bankrupt the US and go into debt with foreign countries such as China, then we will be left high and dry with no retirement, no health care, no nothing. And we might have to learn to speak Chinese if China recalls the loans.

That should strike fear in their black little hearts.
