John Breaux is the guy for '08.
He has great respect amongst dems and reps in the Senate. He would be competitive in LA, MS, AL and AR. He is a true moderate.

After he retires in Jan, he is probably going to be a CEO, so he will be a friend to big business.

The only thing that might derail his chances is that I bet Bush will try to get him on the cabinet.

1. Are you crazy? He's more conservative than Bush and Scalia.

I remember when he flew his helicopter over the clinics to cheer on Operation Rescue.

6. why wouldn't Bayh?
he just easily won reelection in a red state that neighbors the all important Ohio... Besides, Breaux would never survive our primary.

Why not nominate a Breaux / Duke ticket? Do we have to stoop so low to win in this country.

elected for Senate here in LA to take his place. He is much too conservative for the Progressive Movement.

18. we don't need
to nominate a CONSERVATIVE Democrat. We need a candidate that can unite both wings of the party and appeal to independents and moderate Republicans. That's why Mark Warner is ideal.

19. Absolutely. Get more like the Republicans.
Offer the voters a meaningless choice between two identical viewpoints. That'll save the world.

Breaux is too conservative. A guy like Warner or a woman like Mary Landrieu could appeal to both moderates and progressives.

noticed the rest of america won't do that. They want someone like them which is somewhere in the middle.

Soon the repugs will have 60 seats in the Senate and we will have no voice.

They'll have that voice anyway, because the dems elected will either a) have no backbone or b) agree with them.

28. Moderate Dems
will vote for some tax cuts, but certainly not the sop to the rich that we've seen. Moderate Dems promote tax cuts that help people go to school. Moderate Dems promote the erned income tax credit that puts more money in the pockets of poor people. Moderate Dems support welfare reform that helps the poor instead of punishing them.

Not one Democrat in the Senate voted to remove under god from the pledge. This includes the most liberal Senators such as Russ Feingold and Hillary Clinton.

Some moderate Dems voted for authorization, some voted against it.
