Kerry needed a "Sista Soulja" moment.
Edited on Fri Nov-05-04 08:10 AM by novadem
A high-profile backhand to someone on the left. Some missed opportunites:

1) Should have slammed Whoopi Goldberg for her comments

2) Could have critcized Eminem's video

3) Could have agressively denounced Michael Moore, or some of his statements.

It would have pissed of some off us, but it would have helped.

Clinton was a genius.

1. that's contemptible
And it would be self-destructive. What sorts of things do you think inspired the rise of the Nader factor in the first place?

3. And futile
Talking heads would've mocked his sincerity (as would I). Just calling it a Sistah Souljah Moment, and that's what they would call it, tells everyone it was a me-too ploy.

2. I'm noticing that much of the morning after quarterbacking among
many on DU is to kick our friends. Yeah, denounce Michael Moore who, more than anybody, brought Bush's crimes to the forefront of public debate. Then there are those who argue that Kerry should have disassociated himself with gays and lesbians. Despite Kerry's very public hunting photoshoots he should abandon responsible gun control. In short, why should any candidate or this party have any principles. This just mimic the Republicans, since that is what many here now seem to want.

5. Whoopi Goldberg was out of line hurt the effort
her comments should have been denounced immediately.

6. I'm getting the feeling...
... that you aren't quite used to looking at things from our point of view.

I notice that you have no answer to my point about Nader, for example.

8. OH FOR FUCKS SAKE!
Was Whoopi Goldberg on the ticket? She is not a politician. She is an actor.

10. No, but we apparently need to create boogeymen and women
to beat up on and to demonize in order to show how tough we are. I know I certainly enjoyed watching Clinton smack down that uppity woman rapper and execute that retarded person. Made me thump my chest and everything.

We also need to dump entire blocs of our citizenry whenever they become electorally troublesome to us. After all, it's all about winning, not about fighting for what we believe in. Toss the heavy baggage overboard, I say.

Sarcasm/off Outrage/on

This place is making me sick. :puke:
