Unfortunately, a catastraphic event may be our only hope... |
|
I'm talking about something like a real depression, a major terrorist attack that takes out the White House, or another Vietnam war where thousands are drafted and thousands die.
I really think this country is getting more and more dumb each day. We are a media driven country that would rather watch people swap house wives on television than read a book. We would rather get our news from political talk show hosts than actually be informed by the facts. We would rather cheer for murderers, rapists, and criminals than cheer for the real heros of this world. We like to think that Jesus Christ wants us to fight in wars where thousands of innocent children die.
As Democrats, do we really have any hope in just changing the minds of the Bush voting idiots. I don't think so. Everyone knows that our party leaders are not willing to fight for us.
George Bush will destroy America and take the rest of the world with him. I'm afraid our only hope may be found in another major catastraphic event.

2. I've been saying this since the impeachment |
|
I noticed that over the 1990s, the Repubs were not get any better, they were getting worse. After every electoral defeat (1992, 1996, and 1998) they seemed to conclude that the problem was not that they were too right-wing or too mean, but that they were not mean ENOUGH. I started believing then that the only thing that would stamp out loony right wing extremism for good would be some kind of cataclysmic event, something so awful (like the Great Depression) that would make people furious at the Republicans and roundly reject them at the polls.
It seems that Bush has accelerated this trend. We are certainly headed for disaster in Iraq militarily and at home economically.

3. I'm not so sure that would work. |

Talking to one of my friends who voted Bush his reason being Kerry didn't have a plan for terror. I asked him "If we get hit again will you admit Bush's policy for fighting terror was wrong and then make a change in 2008?" His response was I don't know blah blah.
Logically your position makes sense but we aren't living in logical times, my personal theory is that it would just make the Republican base solidify even more.

It seems as though people are actually more afraid of "moral issues" like gay rights, abortion, and gun control, than they are about the economy and innocent people dying in unjustified wars.
It's a sad world we live in. My only hope now is that it doesn't affect me or the people I care about.

6. Now, this second (or third or fourth) |

catastrophic event (out of the previous four years), just how catastrophic do you think it would have to be?
I think it happened two days ago.

Germany didn't rise to the occasion, they deserve what they get.
blah blah.
Lots of people don't have to die for somebody to "get it", we need to go out and GET THEM.
We write off a huge chunk of this country by looking down our nose at them then wonder why they don't vote with us then wish catastrophe on them so they "wake up".
what the fuck ever.

10. If Bush**'s policies and mistakes.. |
|
... aren't enough to convince them, NOTHING WILL.
Fuck them all. This is what they want, this is what they get. Yes, I can be as vindictive as any pug when I see the folly I see now.

8. Do you want to see Bush's approval rating at 90% again? |
|
Don't hope for such things.
America has seen only catastrophe since his first fraudulent victory.
I'm sorry, but I've given into nihilism. I don't see a way out, even through more blood.

9. I'm still praying that my vision of "cataclismic" disaster |
|
directly attributable to * was just a mistake. I was relieved when I thought that * wouldn't be reelected and thought that 9/11 was what I had seen (though I knew 9/11 was relatively mild compared to what I had seen). Now that * has been reelected and he is universally hated around the planet, my vision that included a direct link to * and massive hatred based on Middle East policy is, unfortunately, falling into place. Most people ignore people who post bizarre stuff like this. I don't believe other people who post stuff like this. My visions have come true 100% of the time - this "person" on the other side has warned me of devastating personal events in the past to help prepare me for them. Take this information any way you want...
