I don't know about you but I haven't one fucking reason to travel to a red state. Granted, OK probably doesn't get much money from tourism but I think this is a start. "Are you an ignorant state? We won't be coming there." Me? I vacation at Smuggler's Notch, VT.:)

taking a Carribean cruise from NY in the Winter may not be that practical.

Storyland is cute and a heck of a lot cheaper than Disney anyhoo.

4. I live in a red state and we've invoked a travel ban on red states.
We love Vegas but won't be going anytime soon. I thought my kids would grumble loudly - especially my daughter - but they responded with, "Oh well, at least California is still blue."

Don't come to AZ! Maricopa County screws visitors anyway with hefty taxes on hotel rooms and rental cars to pay for some stupid sports stadium. The self-sufficient people of Maricopa County don't think they should pay for the stadium. They think you should pay for it.

8. Agreed
Are you trying to tell me you don't WANT Texas' electoral votes? You think it was right for Kerry/Edwards to just give up on us and throw in the towel? Who do we dismiss as Red next? Ohio? Pennsylvania? New York?

You need to take a hard look at the polling numbers for Texas for the 2004 election. Back in 2000, Bush beat Gore in Dallas County by a margin of 52% to 48%. This year, Bush beat Kerry by a margin of 50% to 49%.

Moral of this story: Do not piss off Texas Democrats. Otherwise we'll do to the DNC what the "Rogue Elephant" did to the RNC. I don't think you want that. Trust me.

14. Here, Here
It makes no sense whatsoever. First off, there is ZERO chance that you will affect a particular state's tourism numbers or dollars. Don't flatter yourselves, they won't miss you. Secondly, if the plan somehow miraculously worked, you are putting Dems out of work as much as you are hurting any Repube. They should suffer because the rest of their state votes wrong? Give me a break! I'm from PA and we're blue but I guaran-damn-tee you that I'll be taking my annual trek to Sin City in a couple months and won't feel the slightest bit guilty about it.

Edited on Fri Nov-05-04 04:59 PM by sampsonblk
We use economic sanctions agianst nations all the time, even though there are some people in those nations who support us. It happens. I have never liked it, but it happens. Should we abolish economic sanctions because it will hurt some of the people we like?

36. It is getting ridiculous
Someone posted that 45% of the Shrub vote came from blue states.

43% of the Kerry vote came from red states.

Should we boycott 45% of blue states?

Or are these Chimp-voting assholes OK because they didn't throw any electoral votes to Shrub.

Maybe the blue staters can boycott 57% of the red states. Blah, blah, blah.

Better to figure out a way to convince some of these Reds, no matter where in our country they live.

7. Refine this further
and don't travel to an ignorant county. You might like say...Austin Texas or any number of college towns but hate someplace that grows your food, like Fresno, CA.

Just a thought, I'd hate to see people driving 5,000 miles through Canada to get from Washington to Florida cause they couldn't drive through Idaho, Nevada or Arizona.

12. California might be blue
but if I were any of you, I would avoid San Diego for sure like the plague. I was born & raised there. It is a total ripoff, totally polluted, the beaches and bay are closed down a major portion of time due to pollution, the Bay has one of the highest rated PCP levels, the air is filthy, the roads are congested just like LA, the hotel rates are astronomical, it's crowded, it's not like they paint it at all, it would be very disappointing for you and you will waste your money.

Try No. CA. or come come down to Baja instead.

24. Already done it...
We were thinking of going to North Carolina or Tennessee before Thanksgiving. Rent a cabin in the woods, and spend some time relaxing.

We decided not to do it because A) It helps the economy of these red states, and B) we need to save money for god-knows-what is about to hit this economy.

29. Do whatever you want, but you do realize that will hurt liberals too.
Why do you guys have to make these blanket statements that will harm just as many good Dems and liberals as monster repukes?

Great...blow the economies of Vegas, Atlanta, New Orleans, Charleston and Miami. (Like you think you really could do that.) Guess who loses their jobs? Who do you think mostly works in the hospitality industry, the tourism business, the things that keep tourist destinations alive?

Poor people. Immigrants. Minorities. Small businesses. Minimum wage workers. In essence: the Democratic BASE.

Way to go freaks.

32. Boycott Christmas
I think the better idea (suggested by someone on another board) is to boycott Christmas spending. Make homemade gifts; shop at second hand or local shops rather than patronizing the big, corporate-owned stores. For most people, (myself included) this isn't at all difficult because it's reality.

I've made gifts by hand for years...granted I'm an artist and that comes naturally. But most people appreciate something handmade rather than another junky shelf item to be dusted (or kept in a box somewhere).

37. San Diego
has always been anti-union, anti-labor, conservative republican. The crooked Mayors and City Councils have sold out to the developers for years and become very wealthy doing so. Donna Frye was wrote in for Mayor with 33% of the vote, and now, they are even trying to take that away from us by trying to block her legally. BTW, Donna is an excellent surfer.

The infrasturucture to the City is falling apart, instead, money is being dumped into the tourism business to lure the unknowing onto Hepatitis ridden beaches. Yes, that's right. Feces and untreated sewage pour into the bay & ocean. Ear, Nose & Throat specialists have lucrative businesses here.

It STINKS!! The air is foul and filthy.

That's why we moved to Mexico.
