The dream ticket: HIllary Clinton and Obama Barack
I know many people regard Hillary Clinton as polarizing, but that's okay. So is Bush II, so was Clinton, so was Reagan, so was Kennedy. Polarizing views often define our times and motivate people to vote.

The fact is Hillary got a bad rap for some of the things she did. Her health care initiative she handled like the nonpolitician she was, and failed to respond to Republican efforts to frame it as something radical and dangerous. The Whitewater accusations were false. Even Ken Starr couldn't pin anything on her.

Since being elected to the Senate, she has won respect and admiration from New Yorkers of all stripes and even from her Repug colleagues. She would be an exciting choice for president, if only because she's a savvy woman. She's both east coast and midwest, and knows how to talk plainly and simply. I think she would win because the rightwing would go so berserk, their heads would explode and they wouldn't be able to vote.

I don't know enough about Obama Barack yet, but he has a wonderful American story and would obviously appeal to the millions of people who have been disenfranchised by the Republicans.

3. Hell No
Obama, yes, Hilary no way. Shoot, we may as well not even bother wasting the money running a candidate if it comes to that.

12. The Repugs hate HIllary because they fear her
What do you have against her? That the Republicans hate her? They hated Clinton too. Was Bush a bad candidate for the Republicans because the Democrats hate him?

21. The socially conservative and sexist outnumber the
Democratic base. America doesn't seem to be ready for such a progression as a female President. Especially considering the "traditional values" that apparently make someone like Bush electable. The reason Hilary isn't a good candidate so soon is that she will not likely be able to bring enough of the bushies onboard. Not that she's unqualified, just under-appreciated based on one thing: she's not a down-home country boy. Hilary '16? Probably more like it...

10. I Think Obama Is A Comer

But he will be a junior senator with four years experience in 2008....

18. It's a "wait and see" how his image develops. Salazar in Colorado and
Richardson may be equally attractive by 2008.

Obama has magic or charisma that the others don't....

but I give props to Salazar for having a compelling life story...

32. Democrats have to begin building again w/2006 senate and house contests.
They have to make the Dem Party a force again. Women and minority candidate would then have a better chance nationally.

5. Obama AIN'T RUNNING FOR ANYTHING IN 2008!!!
How long is it going to take to get that through all the skulls of DU members who honestly think that Obama will be ready for a national political role in 2008? Let alone be on the ticket for 2008, FORGET ABOUT IT!

Hillary though, I agree, she is my choice for 2008. She will definitely win. Hillary in 2008!

The Repubs are going to throw everything they've got at her just because they fucking hate her guts. It's going to be brutal, but on the other hand, they've how many times can they harp back to their fake issues like Vince Foster?

25. Repeat after Karl Rove: Hillary is evil
They don't want Hillary because they fear her, and so many of you fall into their trap. They would love some moderate whose views are hard to define like Warner or Breaux. We need someone with an edge. They won because Bush has an edge. He's controversial. We won't win with a namby pamby candidate chosen through some careful analysis of electoral politics. If that worked, then Kerry would have won.

26. I like Hillary, but she is another Lieberman-type - hugging Smirkhole.
She is part of the problem with the Democrats right now...too compromising. Plus the um, er Clinton name is not exactly a winner for gaining Swing/Indie or possible R votes.

Plus the fact that John Kerry was labeled a wimp on The War on Terrorism, now WTF do you think they'll do to a woman?

Dean/Obama is a fresh, passionate ticket we need. I'd like to say maybe, just maybe Hill as a Veep.

Oh, just kidding? Why? I think those two could raise plenty of money and they have the one, no, the two things missing from Kerry's campaign....CHARISMA!

Back in 1999 polls showed Americans would vote for Colin Powell. So why the hell can't we take the initiative as liberals and put forth the first AA candidate?
