Good news for the House -- even with DeLay's redistricting schemes... |

... we only lost two seats overall. I think that we lost 4 or 5 seats in Texas alone due to this. So, overall, I think we should look at this as a net gain.
Hey, I'll take just about anything positive I can get these days.... :shrug:

And even then we'll have to do it in shifting population areas like the southwest.

They made one targeted Dem switch parites (Hall), forced one to retire (Turner), and won four of the five who stayed in the race as Dems after being redistricted into Repub-favoring districts. But people like Lloyd Doggett and Chet Edwards hung on.
If you take out the 6 Texas gains attributable to redistricting, the Repubs actually have a net loss in the House.
There are some Americans who are wake and there is hope for the Dems.
