Say It With Me Folks, "OBAMA ISN'T RUNNING FOR ANYTHING IN 2008!!!"
I have had it up to here with all of you people actually throwing his name around as a presidential candidate in 2008, or even vice-presidential candidate.

He will be a first-term senator with only 4 years of experience. Actually, far less than 4 years of experience because he would have to start running for president 16-18 months before election day. In a post-9/11 world, that just isn't going to fly. There are a billion reasons why 2008 is strictly and concretely ruled out, so I am not even going to try and start listing them here right now.

Don't expect him to run for, or be offered any sort of national political position until 2012 or 2016.

1. i think you're half-right
He won't run in 2008, but by then he will probably be Senate minority or majority leader.

He's gonna be on the fast track, no doubt about it.

3. Why would he be a senate leader...
when there are so many more democrats who would want the job that have much more seniority than a half-way through his first term senator from Illinois?

8. because they need to get him national exposure
if he ever wants to run. Plus the less time he spends in the senate overall, the better. Less votes to defend and such. Move him through the sausage factory at breakneck speeds and get him to start running in 2010 if we don't win in 2008.

2. Not to mention....He's black.
Now I know some people might think this nation is all past that but what this election has shown me, is that bigotry is still alive and well, especially in the south.

6. I said this yesterday
Obama is the future, 2008 is waay too soon.

He needs to focus on being a freshman senator from Illinois.

9. Obama? LOL
The kids got class and a bright future but not in 08 for prez.

Those red states that voted for St. George becuase he will protect them from "fags, satan and Hanoi John" sure as hell ain't gonna vote for some "high falootin' jigaboo" from Chicago.

Also can YOU imgine the right wing pundits on Cable?

"The democrats are desperate and trying to play the race card with Obama as their nominee....they will nominate anyone to try to win this race"

but of course we wont bring up Keyes will we?

Dont get me wrong Obama will someday be in the WH just not in 08.

10. This man should have a long and wonderful career....
You're right, 2008 is too soon. Someday though he'll make an incredible candidate.

11. It is this self-hatred and lack of self-esteem that makes Dems LOSE.
Why the hell can't we run Obama who is full of CHARISMA and POSITIVE articulation about what the Democrats stand for. Who gives a damn what his age is or how little experience he has? Look at GDUB for Pete's sake.....

When will you hand-wringers get out of the party and let the passionate candidates with a message run for office?

Dean/Obama 2008.
