Edited on Fri Nov-05-04 06:43 PM by TheWebHead
Bayh could, though we have to get the Hillary can't win in the bible belt meme in the minds of liberals, which I think can be done in Iowa & New Hampshire primaries. Warner is a moderate conservative, pretty much exactly in the same position as McCain

McCain:

Warner:

13. Warner could give us VA
That's 13 EV's that could make a difference. We don't have to win the entire South. A state or two is all we need, combined with the west, midwest, and northeast. We did pretty good in VA anyways. I think Kerry did best in VA than any other southern state besides Florida.

I'm not sure even Bayh could carry Indiana. That could be a stretch, but interesting to think about though.

17. Yep, I'm from VA and the local news was saying that
Fairfax(Northern VA) went blue for the first time in 40 years. With Alexandria, Arlington and Fairfax combined, Kerry was leading Bush by 75,000 votes.
Mark Warner is a very popular governor. There is no doubt that he'll win VA, if the Republicans don't elect one of our Republican senators as their nominee that is ;). Then it would be a tossup, probably.

We've had that discussion a few hundred times already. This far-leftie crap is not the issue. The issue is actually standing up for what we really believe in, as opposed to running as near-Repubs.

Did you ever hear Bush brag about how many times he has opposed HIS own party?

Edited on Fri Nov-05-04 10:09 PM by GirlinContempt
Alienate people from the floundering party, or suck it up and move on. The best way you're going to convince people that you're right is by properly informing them of issues, and given the media in the US, you have a long road ahead of you. Hell, based on the election ALONE you have a long road ahead of you. So get on that and off the back of hardworking dems in tough-to-win states that don't match up with you're image of a Party.

44. No. Way. Repeat after me.
Pandering doesn't work. How about we take tough, unwaivering stands on the issues, and stick with them-- showing voters that we have the integrity to stand up for what we truly believe in, and don't just say things to get elected.

It worked for Paul Wellstone. Republicans would vote for him, even though they disagreed with him 98% of the time, because he had COURAGE and CONVICTION. And you always knew where he stood-- he was never called a "waffler" or "flip-flopper".

People want leaders with character, who stand up for what they believe in-- even if they don't agree with them. THAT is how you win elections-- not by pandering to the lowest common denominator.
