What is this Moral Majority horseshit everyone is buying into?!?!
Out of 22% of voters listing moral values as their top priority, 80% voted for Bush. That means somewhere around 17% of the public voted for Bush primarily because of his morals.

How in God's name is 17% a moral majority?!?!?!

The public obviously doesn't mostly agree with Bush. While most peole are against gay marriage, most of them do believe in civil unions. This does not mean that most people hate gays.

Listen up people. This "Moral Majority" and "Mandate" crap is just a right-wing talking point intended to divide us and sway us in the wrong direction. It is intended to give the false assumption that democratic values ar unnaceptable to this nation.

We just need to frame these issues in the right way.

Like this:

  • Poverty causes abortion. Republicans cause poverty, as shown by the Bush administration. Vote Democrat and abortions will go down. Republicans do nothing because they want to keep abortion as a wedge issue.
  • Gay marriage is a state issue. We don't want to expand the powers of the federal government and have "big brother" governing our every move. That is a Communist idea. Let the states decide like it says in the Constitution. Civil unions are okay, because seperation of Church and state is okay.
  • In 2004, the Republicans ran on morals. Now they are running from them. The Iraq war has been a humanitarian catastrophe. We bombed more people than the rising number of abortions under Bush killed fetuses. And it brought us no benefit. We shouldn't be bombing pregnant women in Iraq.
  • Letting the assault weapons ban run out was an idiotic idea. Now any terrorist can simply pick up a machine gun and fire into our schools. We can't let this happen. Keep our children safe!

Instead of attacking Republicans on these issues, we run from them. That makes us less likely to pick up the populist vote. We need to justify to them why our policies aren't immoral, and it is fairly easy. We just need a better network for getting our voices out!!!
